
Tulane Travels to Memphis as Stockton Goes for 600th Win

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane women's basketball team will stay on the road to play Memphis on Tuesday, Feb. 23. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. in Elma Roane Fieldhouse on Memphis' campus.
STARTING FIVE
1. Freshman JerKaila Jordan has made a splash early in her collegiate career. She has been honored by the AAC seven times. Back on Dec. 14 she was named Conference Player of the Week. Jordan has picked up five Freshman of the Week awards this season. She has led the Green Wave in scoring in 12 of the team's 21 games this season.
2. Jordan currently ranks in the top 10 in the American Athletic Conference in scoring (16.1), field goal percentage (.481), free throw percentage (.716) and steals (2.0).
3. Jordan is ninth in points per game in the nation among all freshmen and 10th in field goal percentage. She leads all freshman in The American in both categories.
4. Senior Krystal Freeman leads the Green Wave and ranks fourth in the AAC with 7.4 rebounds per game. She is third on the team and 12th in the conference with 12.1 points a game.
5. Senior Arsula Clark earned Preseason Second Team All-AAC honors. She currently ranks second on the team and 10th in the conference in scoring with a 12.3 points per game average.
SERIES HISTORY – MEMPHIS
• The Green Wave and the Tigers have met 52 times in program history with Memphis holding a 29-23 edge.
• The Green Wave took the last meeting 80-44 earlier this season.
• Junior Dynah Jones led the Green Wave with 19 points, while freshman JerKaila Jordan added 15 points against the Tigers earlier this year.
• The Olive and Blue had 11 different players score against Memphis this season.
• Tulane head coach Lisa Stockton holds a 21-14 all-time record
against Memphis in her career at Tulane. Stockton holds an 8-8 record against the Tigers in Memphis.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
• Memphis enters its matchup with Tulane sporting a 4-10 overall record and a 2-7 conference mark.
• The Tigers return to the hardwood for the first time since their
71-50 setback at Houston back on Feb. 13, 2021.
• Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu currently ranks second in The American and 19th in the NCAA in rebounding, as she averages 11.3 boards per game. Her 14.9 points per game rank fifth in the league.
• Senior forward Alana Davis also averages double digits in scoring at 12.4 per game, which ranks ninth in the conference.
• The Tigers rank second in most rebounding categories in the AAC including rebounding offense (40.1), rebounding defense (35.0), rebounding margin (+5.1), defensive rebounds (27.1) and offensive rebound percentage (.362). They are also second in free throw percentage at .702.
• Memphis ranks in the top five of the conference in nine total categories.
• Memphis interim head coach Michele Savage is making her debut on the bench for the Tigers. She takes over after Melissa McFerrin retired earlier this season.
• Savage spent nine years as an assistant coach at Tulane.
CARDIAC WAVE
• The Olive and Blue have had 34 of their last 50 games decided by 10 points or less dating back to last season. The Green Wave are 15-19 in those games.
• Within those 32 games, 23 were decided by five points or less. Tulane is 14-9 in games decided by five points or less dating back to last season, including going 2-1 in games that finished with the exact final score of 64-62.
• Although the Wave have played many close games in the last two seasons, Tulane has only played two overtime games in that time. The Olive and Blue beat Tulsa Jan. 8 and fell to Houston Feb. 1 in overtime last season.
• The Green Wave also had a knack for mounting double-digit comebacks last season. Tulane started the trend in the second game of the season as it overcame an 18-point deficit at Washington to take a 64-62 win over the Huskies.
• The Green Wave mounted 17-point comebacks at both Southern Miss and SMU as well.
QUEST FOR 600
• Tulane women's basketball coach Lisa Stockton has compiled 599 wins in her career. With one more win, she will become just the 77th NCAA women's basketball coach to achieve the feat of winning 600 games in a career. Stockton will be the 19th active Division I head coach with 600 wins.
AMONG THE LEAGUE LEADERS
• Tulane ranks among the league's top five in 15 different statistical categories.
• The Green Wave lead the conference in field goal percentage at .428. They rank second the conference in scoring margin (+8.1), assists (14.5) and assist/turnover ratio (1.0).
• Tulane is the only team in The American to have three players ranked in the top 12 in scoring. Freshman JerKaila Jordan is third in the conference with 16.1, while senior Krystal Arsula Clark 10th at 12.3 and Freeman is 12th at 12.1 points per game.
JORDAN SETS RECORDS
• Freshman JerKaila Jordan has won six American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week awards this season.
• Jordan is now holds the all-time conference record for freshman of the week awards by a single player.
• She joins Iowa's Caitlin Clark, UConn's Paige Bueckers and Grand Canyon's Katie Scott as the only freshmen in the nation to post back-to-back games of 28 or more points this season.
FRESHMAN LEADS THE WAY
• Freshman Jerkaila Jordan currently leads the Green Wave with 16.1 points, 25 made threes and 43 steals.
• She is second on the team with 60 assists and 13 blocked shots.
• Jordan has scored in double figures in 18 of the Green Wave's 21 games.
• The New Orleans native is seventh all-time in total points among freshmen in program history. She currently has 338 points on the year. Her 16.1 points per game are first all-time among freshmen.
• The freshman guard had a career day against UCF on Feb. 17. She scored a then-season-high 28 points on 9-17 from the field and 4-9 from three. This is the most points a Tulane freshman has scored since stats were readily available.
• Jordan followed that performance up with 29 points on 11-21 shooting and 6-7 from the free throw line at USF.
CLARK STEPS UP
• The Miami native was named Preseason All-AAC Second team.
• Clark narrowly missed recording the first triple-double in program history when she logged 18 points, nine rebounds and eight assists in the win over Cincinnati on Jan. 18, 2020.
• She opened her 2020-21 season right where she left off posting 17 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals at South Alabama.
• Clark poured in a season-high 28 points on 9-of-15 shooting at ECU back on Dec. 22. She also went 10-of-13 at the free throw line to complement seven rebounds and six steals.
• She led the Green Wave with 20 points and five rebounds against South Florida. Clark was named to the AAC's Weekly Honor Roll after her performance.
• Clark logged 20 points, six rebounds and four assists at USF. Her 12 made free throws against the Bulls on Feb. 20 ranked tied for 10th in program history for made free throws by a Tulane player.
LOUISIANA TALENT
• Freshman Jerkaila Jordan comes to Tulane after winning four straight Louisiana High School State Championships at John Curtis. She was named the MVP of each championship game.
• Jordan was named the Gatorade Player of the Year and Miss Basketball in the state of Louisiana in 2020. She was also the No. 45 recruit in the nation coming out of high school.
• She opened her collegiate career with 17 points, nine rebounds, four assists and two steals against Nicholls. Jordan earned AAC Freshman of the Week honors for her efforts.
• She followed that performance up with 20 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals at South Alabama. The freshman guard shot 2-3 from behind the arc and 4-4 from the charity stripe in Mobile, Ala.
• Jordan was named player of the week from the AAC on Dec. 14.
• The standout freshman earned her third AAC Freshman of the Week Award on Jan. 4, after logging 15 points, three rebounds and three steals in the win over Memphis.
• The New Orleans native earned her fourth Freshman of the Week Honor after tying her career-high with 22 points in the win at Tulsa. She had a career day shooting going 8-9 from the field and 4-4 from three against the Golden Hurricane.
STOCKTON THE LEGEND
• Tulane head coach Lisa Stockton has amassed 599 NCAA wins in her 30-year coaching career. This number currently ranks 19th among all active Division I coaches. Stockton has the most wins of any coach in the American Athletic Conference.

• Now in her 27th year with the Green Wave women's basketball program in 2020-21 it's hard to imagine anyone else at the helm besides Coach Lisa Stockton. Her numbers are staggering: three different conferences, four conference tournament championships, two conference regular-season championships, six All-Americans, 11 NCAA Tournament berths, seven WNIT spots and 536 wins. No one in the history of Tulane women's basketball is even close to Stockton's career numbers.
