
Tulane Tips Off Four-Game Homestand vs. Cincinnati Sunday

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University women's basketball team will tip off a four-game homestand Sunday, Feb. 7, against Cincinnati. The game is the second half a double-header with the Tulane and Cincinnati men's teams, which is set to start at 11 a.m. The women's game is set to tip-off at 2 p.m.
STARTING FIVE
1. Freshman JerKaila Jordan has made a splash early in her collegiate career. She has been honored by the AAC six times. Back on Dec. 14 she was named Conference Player of the Week. Jordan has picked up five Freshman of the Week awards this season. She has led the Green Wave in scoring in nine of the team's 16 games this season.
2. Jordan currently ranks in the top 10 in the American Athletic Conference in scoring (15.8), field goal percentage (.482), free throw percentage (.677) and steals (1.8). She leads all freshman in The American in scoring.
3. Jordan earned her fifth Freshman of the Week honor after leading the Green Wave to a couple of wins over Temple. She averaged 19.7 points, 4.0 assists and 3.3 rebounds in three games last week.
4. Senior Krystal Freeman leads the Green Wave and ranks fifth in the AAC with 7.9 rebounds per game. She is second on the team and eighth in the conference with 13.7 points a game.
5. Senior Arsula Clark earned Preseason Second Team All-AAC honors. She currently ranks third on the team and 10th in the conference in scoring with a 12.9 points per game average.
SERIES HISTORY – CINCINNATI
• The Green Wave and the Bearcats have met 35 times in program history with Cincinnati holding a slight 18-17 edge.
• Tulane took a 68-49 win at Cincinnati on Jan. 9, earlier this season. The Green Wave forced the Bearcats into 24 turnovers and scored 28 points off the change of possession in the first meeting this season.
• The Olive and Blue shot 45.8 percent from the field and scored 28 points in the paint against the Bearcats. Senior Krystal Freeman led the team with 18 points and six rebounds in the win in Cincinnati.
• Tulane head coach Lisa Stockton holds a 15-9 all-time record against Cincinnati in her career at Tulane.
• Tulane has a 7-3 record under Stockton when playing Cincinnati in New Orleans.
SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
• Cincinnati enters its matchup with Tulane carrying a 3-11 overall record and a 2-8 conference mark.
• The Bearcats return to the hardwood after suffering a 69-53 setback against Temple on Feb. 3.
• Cincinnati leads the AAC in blocked shots (4.4) and ranks third in free throw percentage (.694) and fifth in rebounding defense (36.3). The Bearcats also average 35.9 rebounds and 13.1 assists per game as a team.
• Senior forward IImar'I Thomas leads the way for Cincinnati averaging 22.0 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. She is 18th in the nation and leads the conference in points per game.
• Thomas has scored a minimum of 23 points 10 of Cincinnati's 14 games this season. She had a season-high of 34 points in the season opener against Northern Kentucky. Thomas has eclipsed the 30-point mark three times this season.
• Earlier this season, Tulane held Thomas to nine points and three rebounds. Only one other team has held Thomas to less points this season.
• Thomas also leads the conference in field goal percentage at .523 and ranks second in free throw percentage (.840), third in rebounds (8.2) and ninth in assists (3.3).
• Freshman guard Jillian Hayes ranks second on the team in points per game at 8.2. Redshirt senior Arame Niang is second o the team in rebounds (5.4) and steals (1.1).
• Cincinnati head coach Michelle Clark-Heard is in his third season on the bench for the Bearcats and has posted a 49-32 mark since arriving at Cincinnati.
• She previously made stops at Kentucky State and Western Kentucky and holds a 227-112 all-time record.
CARDIAC WAVE
• The Olive and Blue have had 31 of their last 45 games decided by 10 points or less dating back to last season. The Green Wave are 14-17 in those games.
• Within those 31 games, 21 were decided by five points or less. Tulane is 13-8 in games decided by five points or less dating back to last season, including going 2-1 in games that finished with the exact final score of 64-62.
• Although the Wave have played many close games in the last two seasons, Tulane has only played two overtime games in that time. The Olive and Blue beat Tulsa Jan. 8 and fell to Houston Feb. 1 in overtime last season.
• The Green Wave also had a knack for mounting double-digit comebacks last season. Tulane started the trend in the second game of the season as it overcame an 18-point deficit at Washington to take a 64-62 win over the Huskies.
• The Green Wave mounted 17-point comebacks at both Southern Miss and SMU as well.
AMONG THE LEAGUE LEADERS
• Tulane ranks among the league's top five in 16 different statistical categories.
• The Green Wave leads the conference in field goal percentage at .436. They rank second the conference in scoring (69.2), scoring margin (+9.1), assists (15.0) and assist/turnover ratio (1.0).
• Tulane is the only team in The American to have three players ranked in the top 10 in scoring. Freshman JerKaila Jordan is third in the conference with 15.8, senior Krystal Freeman ranks eighth at 13.7 and senior Arsula Clark rounds out the group in 10th with 12.9 points per game.
JORDAN SETS RECORDS
• Freshman JerKaila Jordan has won five American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week awards this season.
• Jordan is now tied with Cincinnati's IImar'I Thomas (2017-18), Rutgers' Tyler Scaife (2013-14) and Temple's Feyonda Fitzgerald (2013-14) for the all-time conference record for freshman of the week awards by a single player.
FRESHMAN LEADS THE WAY
• Freshman JerKaila Jordan currently leads the Green Wave with 15.8 points, 48 assists, 29 steals and 19 made 3-point field goals.
• She is second on the team with 12 blocked shots and third averaging 4.4 rebounds.
STOCKTON THE LEGEND
• Tulane head coach Lisa Stockton has amassed 596 NCAA wins in her 30-year coaching career. This number currently ranks 19th among all active Division I coaches. Stockton has the most wins of any coach in the American Athletic Conference.

• Now in her 27th year with the Green Wave women's basketball program in 2020-21 it's hard to imagine anyone else at the helm besides Coach Lisa Stockton. Her numbers are staggering: three different conferences, four conference tournament championships, two conference regular-season championships, six All-Americans, 11 NCAA Tournament berths, seven WNIT spots and 533 wins. No one in the history of Tulane women's basketball is even close to Stockton's career numbers.
