NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University women's basketball team will continue its homestand as it hosts Tulsa on Wednesday, Feb. 10. Tip-off is set for 3:30 p.m. at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.
STARTING FIVE
1. Freshman JerKaila Jordan has made a splash early in her collegiate career. She has been honored by the AAC seven times. Back on Dec. 14 she was named Conference Player of the Week. Jordan has picked up five Freshman of the Week awards this season. She has led the Green Wave in scoring in 10 of the team's 17 games this season.
2. Jordan currently ranks in the top 10 in the American Athletic Conference in scoring (15.7), field goal percentage (.474), free throw percentage (.690) and steals (2.1). She leads all freshman in The American in scoring.
3. Jordan earned a spot the AAC Weekly Honor Roll after leading the Green Wave to a couple of wins over Wichita State and Cincinnati. She averaged 16.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 assists last week.
4. Senior Krystal Freeman leads the Green Wave and ranks fifth in the AAC with 7.5 rebounds per game. She is tied for second on the team and eighth in the conference with 12.9 points a game.
5. Senior Arsula Clark earned Preseason Second Team All-AAC honors. She currently ranks tied for second on the team and 10th in the conference in scoring with a 12.9 points per game average.
SERIES HISTORY – TULSA
• The Green Wave and the Golden Hurricane have met 33 times in program history with Tulane holding a 24-9 edge.
• The Green Wave have won the last four games against Tulsa. Tulane grabbed a 65-54 win over the Golden Hurricane earlier this season in Tulsa.
• Freshman JerKaila Jordan led the Green Wave earlier this season with 22 points and five rebounds in the win at Tulsa. She shot 8-9 from the field and 4-4 from three. Senior Krystal Freeman added 16 points and eight rebounds.
• The Olive and Blue shot 50.0 (25-50) percent from the field and out-rebounded Tulsa 35-27.
• Tulane head coach Lisa Stockton holds a 23-9 all-time record against Tulsa in her career at Tulane.
• Tulane has an 12-3 record under Stockton when playing the Golden Hurricane in New Orleans.
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN HURRICANE
• Tulsa enters its matchup with Tulane carrying a 5-7 overall record and a 4-7 conference mark. The Golden Hurricane is coming off a 64-56 loss to Houston.
• The Golden Hurricane leads the AAC in turnover margin at +5.33. Tulsa ranks in the top five in the conference in scoring defense (62.3), 3-point field goals made per game (6.2), steals (10.8) and assist/turnover ratio (0.9).
• Tulsa takes care of the ball well and ranks 42nd in the nation in turnovers per game at 13.4. The Golden Hurricane also causes a lot of turnovers for their opponents. Tulsa ranks 22nd in the nation in steals.
• Junior guard Maya Mayberry leads the Golden Hurricane with 14.3 points per game. She ranks seventh in the American in the category.
• Freshman guard Wyvette Mayberry is second on the team with 10.9 points per game. She also adds 3.2 rebounds a game.
• Wyvette Mayberry also leads the team with 3.5 assists per game. She is eighth in the conference in assists.
• Junior forward Desiree Lewis leads the team with 5.8 rebounds per game. She also adds 6.1 points per game.
• Junior Rebecca Lescay adds 8.6 points and 5.0 rebounds per game for Tulsa. She is third in the AAC in steals at 2.3 per game.
• Tulsa head coach Matilda Mossman is in her 10th season on the bench for the Golden Hurricane and has posted a 119-169 mark since arriving in Tulsa.
• Mossman has collected a 269-264 overall record in her career. She previously made stops at Kansas State and Arkansas.
CARDIAC WAVE
• The Olive and Blue have had 32 of their last 46 games decided by 10 points or less dating back to last season. The Green Wave are 15-17 in those games.
• Within those 32 games, 22 were decided by five points or less. Tulane is 14-8 in games decided by five points or less dating back to last season, including going 2-1 in games that finished with the exact final score of 64-62.
• Although the Wave have played many close games in the last two seasons, Tulane has only played two overtime games in that time. The Olive and Blue beat Tulsa Jan. 8 and fell to Houston Feb. 1 in overtime last season.
• The Green Wave also had a knack for mounting double-digit comebacks last season. Tulane started the trend in the second game of the season as it overcame an 18-point deficit at Washington to take a 64-62 win over the Huskies.
• The Green Wave mounted 17-point comebacks at both Southern Miss and SMU as well.
AMONG THE LEAGUE LEADERS
• Tulane ranks among the league's top five in 14 different statistical categories.
• The Green Wave leads the conference in field goal percentage at .433. They rank second the conference in scoring (68.7), scoring margin (+8.7), assists (14.8) and assist/turnover ratio (1.0).
• Tulane is the only team in The American to have three players ranked in the top 10 in scoring. Freshman JerKaila Jordan is third in the conference with 15.7, while seniors Krystal Freeman and Arsula Clark are tied for ninth at 12.9 points per game.
JORDAN SETS RECORDS
• Freshman JerKaila Jordan has won five American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week awards this season.
• Jordan is now tied with Cincinnati's IImar'I Thomas (2017-18), Rutgers' Tyler Scaife (2013-14) and Temple's Feyonda Fitzgerald (2013-14) for the all-time conference record for freshman of the week awards by a single player.
FRESHMAN LEADS THE WAY
• Freshman Jerkaila Jordan currently leads the Green Wave with 15.7 points, 50 assists, 35 steals and 20 made 3-point field goals.
• She is second on the team with 12 blocked shots and third averaging 4.4 rebounds.
CLARK SCORES 1,000 & GRABS 600
• Senior Arsula Clark scored the 1,000th point of her career with an and-one against Wichita State on Feb. 16, 2020.
• She spent her first two seasons at Louisiana Monroe, where she scored 711 points. Clark now has 601 points during her time Uptown.
• Clark grabbed the 600th rebound of her career with her second rebound against Cincinnati on Feb. 7, 2021.
LOUISIANA TALENT
• Freshman Jerkaila Jordan comes to Tulane after winning four straight Louisiana High School State Championships at John Curtis. She was named the MVP of each championship game.
• Jordan was named the Gatorade Player of the Year and Miss Basketball in the state of Louisiana in 2020. She was also the No. 45 recruit in the nation coming out of high school.
• She opened her collegiate career with 17 points, nine rebounds, four assists and two steals against Nicholls.
• Jordan earned AAC Freshman of the Week honors for her efforts against Nicholls.
• She followed that performance up with 20 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals at South Alabama. The freshman guard shot 2-3 from behind the arc and 4-4 from the charity stripe in Mobile, Ala.
• Jordan was named player of the week from the AAC on Dec. 14.
• The standout freshman earned her third AAC Freshman of the Week Award on Jan. 4, after logging 15 points, three rebounds and three steals in the win over Memphis.
• The New Orleans native earned her fourth Freshman of the Week Honor after tying her career-high with 22 points in the win at Tulsa. She had a career day shooting going 8-9 from the field and 4-4 from three against the Golden Hurricane.
SINGLE-DIGIT QUARTERS
• The Olive and Blue have made a point to be strong defensively under coach Stockton. Tulane held LSU to two points in the second quarter on Nov. 17, 2019.
• The Olive and Blue have held opponents to five or fewer points in a quarter 29 times since the NCAA moved to the four quarters format in the 2015-16 season.
• The Green Wave only allowed Georgia Southern to score in double digits in the third quarter on Dec. 30, 2019.
• Tulane held opponents to single digits in a quarter 15 times last season. The Green Wave have achieved the feat on 11 occasions this season.
• The Green Wave picked up right where they left off on the defensive side of the ball and only allowed Nicholls to put up four points in the third quarter in the 2020-21 season opener.
• Tulane held UCF to just eight points in the opening quarter against the Knights.
• The Green Wave held Southeastern to seven points in the fourth quarter earlier this year.
• Tulane kept up the defense holding Memphis to nine points in both the first and second quarters on Jan. 2.
• The Green Wave brought the defensive intensity only allowing Temple to score nine points in the second half on Jan. 30. The three points the Owls scored in the fourth quarter were the lowest by a Tulane opponent this season.
• Tulane stepped up the defense again against Cincinnati on Feb. 7, as they held the Bearcats to three points in the second quarter.
STOCKTON THE LEGEND
• Tulane head coach Lisa Stockton has amassed 597 NCAA wins in her 30-year coaching career. This number currently ranks 19th among all active Division I coaches. Stockton has the most wins of any coach in the American Athletic Conference.

MORE THAN A QUARTER CENTURY WITH COACH
• Now in her 27th year with the Green Wave women's basketball program in 2020-21 it's hard to imagine anyone else at the helm besides Coach Lisa Stockton. Her numbers are staggering: three different conferences, four conference tournament championships, two conference regular-season championships, six All-Americans, 11 NCAA Tournament berths, seven WNIT spots and 534 wins. No one in the history of Tulane women's basketball is even close to Stockton's career numbers.
