Bowling Wraps Up Regular season at Mid-Winter Invitational

NEW ORLEANS – The No. 17 Tulane University bowling team will wrap up the 2020-21 regular season at the Mid-Winter Invitational in Jonesboro, Ark., this weekend.Â

The three-day event will get underway Friday, March 12, with five five-game Baker matches. The Green Wave will then move to Saturday's five traditional team matches. Sunday will feature one more traditional match then three best of seven Bakers in a bracket format.

Tulane comes into the weekend sporting a 21-20 overall record. The last time out, the Green Wave knocked down 12,301 pins as they placed fifth at the Music City Classic. The Olive and Blue posted a 7-6 overall record on the weekend, including a 3-0 mark in the bracket format on Sunday.

Tulane logged wins over No. 8 Sam Houston State, No. 14 Maryville, No. 15 Lincoln Memorial, No. 16 Central Missouri, No. 22 Central Missouri, Alabama State and Jackson State in its last time out.

Senior Madison McCall led the way for the Olive and Blue with 1,050 total pins and a 210.0 pin average over five games. She posted the team's tournament-high with 238 in the Green Wave's 945-943 loss to Kentucky Wesleyan. McCall also logged games of 216, 207, 204 and 185 for the tournament. McCall leads the team with a 205.43 pin average on the season.

Freshman Morgan Gitlitz finished second on the team and 24th overall with 991 total pins and a 198.20 pin average at the Music City Classic. Gitliz rolled three games of 200+ with a 226 in the third game, 214 in the fifth and 205 in the fourth.

Sophomore Amelia Vasquez placed 35th with 954 total pins and a 190.80 pin average. She logged two 200+ games with a 224 and a 213 in the second and first games, respectively. Vasquez has averaged 200.12 pins this season.

The field for the Mid-Winter Invitational will include No. 1 McKendree, No. 2 Arkansas State, No. 5 Nebraska, No. 8 Sam Houston State, No. 11 Youngstown State, No. 14 Maryville, No. 16 Stephen F. Austin, No. 22 Central Missouri, No. 23 Wisconsin-Whitewater and Drury.
