Women's Tennis Heads to North Texas, SMU

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane women's tennis team heads to Texas for a pair of road matches at North Texas and American Athletic Conference foe SMU on March 12-13.
The Green Wave (8-4) will face North Texas on Friday at 3 p.m., before heading to Dallas to play at SMU the following day at noon.
SCOUTING NORTH TEXAS
The Mean Green (2-7) enter Friday's match with losses in four straight matches, including a 4-3 setback in their most recent outing at home against Memphis on March 8. In fact, all four of their most recent defeats have come against programs in The American including Houston (4-2), SMU (6-1) and Wichita State (4-0) before the Memphis contest.
LAST TIME THEY MET - JANUARY 18, 2009
The Green Wave suffered a 5-2 home loss to the Mean Green in its first home match at the Goldring Tennis Center since May 2005 in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Tulane collected a win at No. 1 doubles and straight-set wins at No. 1 and No. 3 singles.
SCOUTING SMU
The Mustangs (8-6) will host UT-Arlington prior to welcoming the Green Wave and have won four consecutive matches following a 4-1 win over Memphis on Feb. 9. SMU is led by Hadley Doyle's 8-4 singles record this spring, which includes a 5-3 mark at the No. 2 spot in the lineup. In doubles, the Mustangs possess one ranked tandem, as Jackie Nylander and Chandler Carter comprise the nation's No. 52 duo. However, it is Carter and Claudia Bartolome who own a 5-0 record playing on court two this season.
LAST TIME THEY MET - FEBRUARY 16, 2020
SMU won its fourth straight matchup against Tulane, 4-1, in City Park last season. The Mustangs won the doubles point and three singles matches, despite Adelaide Lavery claiming a 6-4, 6-4 win on court two.
TULANE IN THE ITA RANKINGS
Green Wave sophomore Mackenzie Clark is ranked No. 108 in the ITA's national singles rankings to begin the season. In doubles, Clark and 2020 ITA All-American Mary Caroline Meredith comprise the nation's No. 54 duo.
THE DOUBLES POINT
The Green Wave are 8-1 this season when winning the doubles point and 0-3 when they do not. Tulane has won all three doubles matches in four of the seven instances in which they clinch the first team point.

In accordance with current city and campus guidelines, Tulane Athletics is pleased to announce the accommodation of a limited number of fans attend Tulane tennis matches at the City Park Tennis Center. Fans are encouraged to bring their own bag chairs for seating. All spectators will be asked to remain six feet away from the courts at all times, respect social distancing rules, avoid gathering and remain six feet away from others. All spectators are required to wear a mask covering their nose and mouth while inside City Park.
