
Tulane Travels to Fort Worth for First Round of 2021 Air Force Reserve American Athletic Conference Tournament

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University women's basketball team will travel to Fort Worth, Texas, for the 2021 Air Force Reserve American Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Championship on Tuesday, March 9. The Green Wave earned the No. 4 seed and will take on No. 5 seeded Temple in Dickies Arena at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
JORDAN COLLECTS AWARDS
• Freshman point guard JerKaila Jordan was named the American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year. She was the first Tulane player to ever earn the honor from the AAC. She joined Barbara Farris, Grace Daley and Danielle Blagg as the only Green Wave student-athletes to be named Freshman of the Year by any conference.
• Jordan was also named First Team All-American Athletic Conference. The New Orleans native was the first player in Tulane history to ever earn first team honors in the AAC. She was also chosen for the AAC All-Freshman team.
STARTING FIVE
1. Freshman JerKaila Jordan has made a splash early in her collegiate career. She has been honored by the AAC 10 times. Back on Dec. 14 she was named Conference Player of the Week. Jordan has picked up seven Freshman of the Week awards this season. She has led the Green Wave in scoring in 14 of the team's 23 games this season.
2. Jordan ranked in the top 10 in the American Athletic Conference in scoring (16.8), field goal percentage (.497), free throw percentage (.719) and steals (2.1) all season.
3. Jordan is eighth in points per game and field goal percentage in the nation among all freshmen. She leads all freshman in The American in both categories.
4. Senior Krystal Freeman leads the Green Wave and ranks third in the AAC with 7.9 rebounds per game. She is second on the team and 10th in the conference with 12.4 points a game.
5. Senior Arsula Clark earned Preseason Second Team All-AAC honors. She currently ranks third on the team and 13th in the conference in scoring with a 12.0 points per game average.
SERIES HISTORY – TEMPLE
• The Green Wave and the Owls have met 12 times in program history with neither side taking an edge. Both teams have won six games in the 12-game series.
• The Green Wave took both meetings between the two teams this season. The two teams played in back-to-back days in New Orleans with Tulane wining 80-44 in the first game and 71-69 in the second.
• Freshman JerKaila Jordan led the Wave in the first game with 22 points, five steals and four assists. Jordan was the leader in the second game with 18 points and four assists. Senior Krystal Freeman added 16 points and eight rebounds in the second matchup.
• The Olive and Blue have won five straight against the Owls.
• All 12 games have been played during the Lisa Stockton era at Tulane. The two teams have never met in the postseason.
SCOUTING THE OWLS
• Temple enters the confernce tournament at Tulane carrying a 11-10 overall record and an 11-7 conference mark. The Owls are coming off a 66-52 win over Memphis on March 4.
• The Owls rank fourth in the AAC in assists (14.2) and assist turnover ratio (0.8).
• Temple averages 37.3 rebounds and 61.5 points per game.
• Senior Mia Davis leads the team and ranks second in the conference in scoring at 17.6 points per game. She ranks fourth in the AAC rebounding at 7.6 a game.
• The senior forward has scored 16 or more points in 17 of the 21 games for Temple this season. She logged 14 and 21 points against the Green Wave earlier this season.
• Freshman Jasha Clinton is second on the team and sixth in the conference with 13.0 points per game. She is also second on the team and sixth in the conference with 3.9 assists per game.
• Sophomore Asonah Alexander ranks 47th in the nation and fourth in the conference with 6.1 assists per game. She also adds 5.5 rebounds and 4.6 points per game for the Owls.
• Junior forward Alexa Williamson is third on the team with 12.3
points and second for the Owls with 6.5 rebounds per game.
• Temple head coach Tonya Cardoza is in her 13th season on the bench for the Owls. She has posted a 238-172 mark since arriving in Philadelphia.
JOINING THE 600 CLUB
• Tulane women's basketball coach Lisa Stockton became just the 77th NCAA women's basketball coach to win 600 games in her career. Stockton is the 19th active Division I head coach with 600 wins.
AMONG THE LEAGUE LEADERS
• Tulane ranks among the league's top five in 17 different statistical categories.
• The Green Wave lead the conference in scoring at 69.1 and field goal percentage at .431. They rank second the conference in scoring margin (+9.0) and assist/turnover ratio (0.9).
• Tulane is the only team in The American to have three players ranked in the top 13 in scoring. Freshman JerKaila Jordan is third in the conference with 16.8, while senior Krystal Freeman is 10th at 12.4 and Senior Arsula Clark is 13th at 12.0 points per game.
JORDAN SETS RECORDS
• Freshman JerKaila Jordan has won seven American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week awards this season.
• Jordan now holds the all-time conference record for freshman of the week awards by a single player with seven.
• She joins Iowa's Caitlin Clark and UConn's Paige Bueckers as the only freshmen in the nation to post back-to-back-to-back games of 28 or more points this season.
• Jordan and Bueckers are the only two freshmen in the nation averaging at least 16.0 points, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals while shooting 48.0 percent or better from the field.
FRESHMAN LEADS THE WAY
• Freshman Jerkaila Jordan currently leads the Green Wave with 16.8 points, 28 made threes and 48 steals.
• She is second on the team with 61 assists and 16 blocked shots.
• Jordan has scored in double figures in 20 of the Green Wave's 23 games.
• The New Orleans native is fifth all-time in total points among freshmen in program history. She currently has 387points on the year. Her 16.8 points per game are first all-time among freshmen.
• The freshman guard had a career day against UCF on Feb. 17. She scored a then-season-high 28 points on 9-17 from the field and 4-9 from three. This is the most points a Tulane freshman has scored since stats were readily available.
• Jordan followed that performance up with 29 points on 11-21 shooting and 6-7 from the free throw line at USF.
• She continued her hot streak with 29 points on 13-22 shooting from the floor and 3-5 from three at Memphis.

FREEMAN NAMED ALL-CONFERENCE
• Senior Krystal Freeman was named Third Team All-AAC after the 2020-21 regular season. This marks the third time in her career the conference has honored her with an all-conference award.
• Freeman previously earned second team all-conference in both the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons. She became only the sixth player in program history to earn all-conference honors three times in their career. She joined the likes of Barbara Farris, Grace Daley, Janell Burse, Danielle Blagg and Kolby Morgan.
AMBASSADOR CHEATHAM
• Senior Sierra Cheatham was named the Ambassador Award winner by the American Athletic Conference the past three seasons.
• Cheatham is the only person to win the award three times in conference history.
• The award is given annually to the student-athlete who most exemplifies the ideals of sportsmanship on the court – ethical behavior, fair play and integrity – along with community service off the court.
SINGLE-DIGIT QUARTERS
• The Olive and Blue have made a point to be strong defensively under coach Stockton. Tulane held LSU to two points in the second quarter on Nov. 17, 2019.
• The Olive and Blue have held opponents to five or fewer points in a quarter 30 times since the NCAA moved to the four quarters format in the 2015-16 season.
• The Green Wave have held opponents to single-digits on 15 occasions this season.
• Tulane only allowed Nicholls to put up four points in the third quarter in the 2020-21 season opener.
• Tulane held UCF to just eight points in the opening quarter in the first matchup this season.
• The Green Wave held Southeastern to seven points in the fourth quarter earlier this year.
• Tulane kept up the defense holding Memphis to nine points in both the first and second quarters on Jan. 2.
• The Green Wave brought the defensive intensity only allowing Temple to score nine points in the second half on Jan. 30. The three points the Owls scored in the fourth quarter were the lowest by a Tulane opponent this season.
• Tulane stepped up the defense again against Cincinnati on Feb. 7, as they held the Bearcats to three points in the second quarter.
• The Olive and Blue set the tone on defense against Tulsa on Feb. 10. The Golden Hurricane only scored six points in the third quarter in Tulane's 64-47 win.
• Tulane ended the season strong defensively by holding East Carolina to 15 total points in the first half, including eight in the first quarter and seven in the second.
STOCKTON THE LEGEND
• Tulane head coach Lisa Stockton has amassed 601 NCAA wins in her 30-year coaching career. This number currently ranks 19th among all active Division I coaches. Stockton has the most wins of any coach in the American Athletic Conference.

• Now in her 27th year with the Green Wave women's basketball program in 2020-21 it's hard to imagine anyone else at the helm besides Coach Lisa Stockton. Her numbers are staggering: three different conferences, four conference tournament championships, two conference regular-season championships, six All-Americans, 11 NCAA Tournament berths, seven WNIT spots and 538 wins. No one in the history of Tulane women's basketball is even close to Stockton's career numbers.
