
Women’s Basketball Set to Take On USF in the AAC Semifinals

FORT WORTH, Texas – The Tulane University women's basketball team will take on No. 1-seed USF in the semifinals of the Air Force Reserve American Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Championship Wednesday, March 10. Tip-off is set for 4:30 p.m. at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
JORDAN COLLECTS AWARDS
• Freshman point guard JerKaila Jordan was named the American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year. She was the first Tulane player to ever earn the honor from the AAC. She joined Barbara Farris, Grace Daley and Danielle Blagg as the only Green Wave student-athletes to be named Freshman of the Year by any conference.
• Jordan was also named First Team All-American Athletic Conference. The New Orleans native was the first player in Tulane history to ever earn first team honors in the AAC. She was also chosen for the AAC All-Freshman team.
SERIES HISTORY – SOUTH FLORIDA
• The Green Wave and the Bulls have met 45 times in program
history with South Florida holding a 26-19 edge.
• South Florida has taken 17 straight games over the Green Wave
dating back to the 2014-15 season.
• The Bulls took both meetings between the two teams earlier
this season. They won 72-53 in New Orleans and 78-69 in Tampa.
• Elisa Pinzan led the Bulls with 22 points and seven assists in the first game. Senior Arsula Clark was the top scorer for the GreenWave with 20 points in New Orleans.
• Bethy Mununga was the leader for the Bulls with 17 pionts and 17 rebounds during the game in Tampa. Sydni Harvey also added 16 pionts for the Bulls. Freshman JerKaila Jordan scored a career-high 29 points in Tampa for Tulane. Senior Arsula Clark added 20 points, while shooting 12-12 from the free throw line, in Tampa.
• Tulane head coach Lisa Stockton holds a 15-23 all-time record against South Florida in her career at Tulane.
• Tulane is 0-3 against USF in the American Athletic Conference Tournament.
SCOUTING THE BULLS
• South Florida enters its matchup against Tulane ranked No. 20/18 nationally and carrying a 16-3 overall record and a 12-2 conference mark.
• The Bulls are coming off a 48-44 win over Wichita State in the quarterfinals.
• The Bulls lead the AAC in scoring margin (+12.2), rebounds (44.0), rebound margin (+9.0), assists (16.1), assist/turnover ratio (1.2), offensive rebounds (16.0), defensive rebounds (28.0) and 3-point field goals made (7.6).
• South Florida rank 10th in the NCAA in rebounds per game, 16th in scoring defense,18th in field goal percentage defense, 11th in rebound margin and 18th in assist/turnover ratio and assists per game.
• The Bulls share the ball well as they have four players in the top 30 in scoring in the AAC.
• Sophomore guard Elena Tsineke leads the way with 12.8 points per game to rank ninth in the conference, junior point guard Sydni Harvey is second on the team and 16th in the conference at 11.3 per game and senior forward Bethy Mununga ranks third on the team and 17th in the AAC at 10.7.
• Junior Elisa Pinzan (9.5) rounds out the group ranked 26th in the conference. She led the conference with 6.9 assists per game and a 3.3 assist/turnover ratio. Pinzan ranks fifth nationally in Assist/turnover ratio and 14th in assists.
• Mununga was tops in the conference and ranked fourth nationally in rebounds per game at 12.8.
• South Florida head coach Jose Fernandez is in his 21st season on the bench for the Bulls and has posted a 389-275 mark since arriving in Tampa.
AMONG THE LEAGUE LEADERS
• Tulane ranked among the league's top five in 17 different statistical categories at the end of the season.
• The Green Wave led the conference in scoring at 69.1 and field goal percentage at .431. They ranked second the conference in scoring margin (+9.0) and assist/turnover ratio (0.9).
• Tulane was the only team in The American to have three players ranked in the top 13 in scoring. Freshman JerKaila Jordan finished third in the conference with 16.8, while seniorKrystal Freeman was 10th at 12.4 and Senior Arsula Clark is 13th at 12.0 points per game.
JORDAN SETS RECORDS
• Freshman JerKaila Jordan won seven American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week awards this season.
• Jordan now holds the all-time conference record for freshman of the week awards by a single player.
• She joins Iowa's Caitlin Clark and UConn's Paige Bueckers as the only freshmen in the nation to post back-to-back-to-back games of 28 or more points this season.
• Jordan and Bueckers are the only two freshmen in the nation averaging at least 16.0 points, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals while shooting 48.0 percent or better from the field.
FRESHMAN LEADS THE WAY
• Freshman Jerkaila Jordan currently leads the Green Wave with 16.4 points, 28 made threes and 50 steals.
• She is second on the team with 65 assists and 17 blocked shots.
• Jordan has scored in double figures in 20 of the Green Wave's 24 games.
• The New Orleans native is fifth all-time in total points among freshmen in program history. She currently has 394 points on the year. Her 16.4 points per game are first all-time among freshmen.
• The freshman guard had a career day against UCF on Feb. 17. She scored a then-season-high 28 points on 9-17 from the field and 4-9 from three. This is the most points a Tulane freshman has scored since stats were readily available.
• Jordan followed that performance up with 29 points on 11-21 shooting and 6-7 from the free throw line at USF.
• She continued her hot streak with 29 points on 13-22 shooting from the floor and 3-5 from three at Memphis.

FREEMAN NAMED ALL-CONFERENCE
• Senior Krystal Freeman was named Third Team All-AAC after the 2020-21 regular season. This marks the third time in her career the conference has honored her with an all-conference award.
• Freeman previously earned second team all-conference in both the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons. She became only the sixth player in program history to earn all-conference honors three times in their career. She joined the likes of Barbara Farris, Grace Daley, Janell Burse, Danielle Blagg and Kolby Morgan.
AMBASSADOR CHEATHAM
• Senior Sierra Cheatham was named the Ambassador Award winner by the American Athletic Conference the past three seasons.
• Cheatham is the only person to win the award three times in conference history.
• The award is given annually to the student-athlete who most exemplifies the ideals of sportsmanship on the court – ethical behavior, fair play and integrity – along with community service off the court.
RETURNING THE OFFENSE
• Tulane brings back 89.3 percent of its scoring and 95.2 percent of its rebounding from the 2019-20 season. This is the second-highest percentage of any team in the American behind SMU.
• The four seniors (Krystal Freeman, Arsula Clark, Sierra Cheatham and Kaila Anderson) on the roster for the Olive Blue are tied for second with Memphis and Temple for the most in the American Athletic Conference. ECU boasts six for the highest number in the league.
• The Green Wave graduated two seniors last season, Kayla Manuirirangi and Maddison Wells.
• Tulane opened the season with an 88-point outburst. This was the most points the Green Wave have scored since they beat FAU, 88-45, on Nov. 28, 2018.
• The Olive and Blue have topped the 80-point mark five times this season.
• The 83 points scored against Temple in the AAC quarterfinals were the most scored by a Tulane team in any AAC Tournament game. This was also the most points scored against an American Athletic Conference opponent in regulation since beating 84-60 at SMU on Feb. 3, 2015.
• The 80 points against Memphis and Temple were the most the Green Wave had scored against an American Athletic Conference team in regulation since beating Houston, 82-56, on Jan. 14, 2017.
• Both games against Memphis and Temple ended with the exact score of 80-44.
• The 36-point margins of victory were the largest against a conference opponent since the Olive and Blue topped Tulsa by 37 points, 78-41, on Jan. 24, 2009.
• With the two wins of 30+ points, Tulane has beaten two conference opponents by 30+ points in the same season five times since Lisa Stockton arrived Uptown.
STOCKTON THE LEGEND
• Tulane head coach Lisa Stockton has amassed 602 NCAA wins in her 30-year coaching career. This number currently ranks 19th among all active Division I coaches. Stockton has the most wins of any coach in the American Athletic Conference.

MORE THAN A QUARTER CENTURY WITH COACH
• Now in her 27th year with the Green Wave women's basketball program in 2020-21 it's hard to imagine anyone else at the helm besides Coach Lisa Stockton. Her numbers are staggering: three different conferences, four conference tournament championships, two conference regular-season championships, six All-Americans, 11 NCAA Tournament berths, seven WNIT spots and 539 wins. No one in the history of Tulane women's basketball is even close to Stockton's career numbers.
