No. 25 Men's Tennis Set for Key Road Matches at USF, UCF

NEW ORLEANS - Following a nine-day break between matches, the 25th-ranked Tulane men's tennis team travels to the Sunshine State for a pair of road matches against American Athletic Conference opponents beginning Friday, April 2 in Tampa, Fla., against 37th-ranked USF at 12:30 p.m. (CT).
The Green Wave will then make the short drive to Orlando to face No. 13 UCF on Sunday, April 4 at noon at the USTA National Campus.
LAST TIME OUT
Tulane (10-5) completed a home-and-home series sweep with a 6-1 win over then-No. 41 LSU at the City Park Tennis Center on March 21. The Wave earned their sixth win in the last seven meetings against LSU after also defeating the Tigers, 5-2, in Baton Rouge on Feb. 7.
SCOUTING USF
The Bulls (11-6) enter Friday's match coming off back-to-back losses and four setbacks in their last five outings. Most recently, USF fell, 6-1, at Texas on March 27 and 4-3 at Middle Tennessee on March 28. The Bulls possess two ranked singles players in No. 58 Chase Ferguson and No. 72 Jacob Wojcik. In doubles, Wojcik and Rithvik Bollipalli are ranked No. 24 overall.
LAST TIME THEY MET – MARCH 8, 2019
Tulane suffered a 4-3 setback in Tampa, as USF won the doubles point and claimed singles wins on courts one, five and six, respectively.
SCOUTING UCF
The Knights (13-3) will face USF on Saturday afternoon in Tampa ahead of Sunday's contest against the Green Wave. UCF has won five straight and 11 of its last 12 matches, including a 4-2 win at No. 18 Oklahoma State on March 28 and a 4-3 home win over No. 14 Wake Forest on March 31. The Knights are led by the nation's No. 4 singles player, Gabriel Decamps, who owns a 15-1 overall record playing atop the lineup this spring. Additionally, Juan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi is listed at No. 122 in the poll with a 10-4 mark on the year. In doubles, Decamps and Trey Hilderbrand comprise the 26th-ranked tandem, while Hilderbrand and Bogdan Pavel are No. 29.

Tulane came up short, 4-3, against the Knights after dropping the doubles point and singles matches on courts two, four and five, respectively. Ewan Moore upset then-No. 18 Gabriel Decamps, 6-4, 6-7(6), 10-6, on court one, and Hamish Stewart outlasted then-No. 122 Alan Rubio, 6-3, 6-1, on court three.
IN THE RANKINGS
In the latest ITA team rankings released on March 30, the Green Wave are ranked No. 25 in the national poll. In singles, senior Hamish Stewart is No. 29, while he and fifth-year senior Ewan Moore comprise the nation's No. 45 doubles tandem.
THE DOUBLES POINT
Tulane has won the doubles point in 11 of its 15 matches this season and own a combined 26-14 (.650) overall record. Stewart and Moore are 10-5 at the No. 1 spot in the lineup, while freshman Billy Suarez and senior Akos Kotorman are 9-4 playing at the No. 2 position.
CAGING ALL TIGERS!
The Green Wave collected three consecutive wins over teams nicknamed "Tigers" when they defeated Memphis (4-0) on March 13, Auburn (4-3) on March 19 and LSU (6-1) on March 21.
BOORAS WINS NO. 150
In his 12th season at the helm of the program, director of tennis and head coach Mark Booras earned his 150th career victory in Tulane's 4-3 home win over Auburn on March 19.
AAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Senior Hamish Stewart was selected as the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Feb. 16 for the fourth time in his career after receiving the recognition once as a junior in 2020 and twice in 2019 as a sophomore.
