
Tulane Golf Closes Regular Season Tuesday

HUMBLE, Texas – The Tulane University women's golf team finished the regular on Tuesday, April 13, at the Lone Star Invitational hosted by the University of Houston at the Golf Club of Houston.

Sophomore Sandra Vazquez led the way with a total score of 4-over 220 to tie for 17th. She posted the best round of her season in the third round of the Lone Star Invitational at 1-under 71. She birdied the par-3 seventh, par-4 12th and par-5 13th and 15th holes on Tuesday. Vazquez also logged her first eagle of the season on the par-5 eighth hole today.

The Mallorca, Spain, native shot 3-over 75 in the first round and 2-over 74 in the second round on Monday. She had nine birdies over the two-day event.

Freshman Daozeng "Cleo" Liu placed tied for 26th at 10-over 226. She opened the tournament with a 1-under 71 in the first round followed by a 5-over 77 in the second round and a 6-over 78 in the third. She had five birdies in the tournament.

Sophomore Hanna Liu posted a total score of 13-over 229 to finish 30th overall. She registered a score of 2-over 74 in Tuesday's final round. Liu logged five birdies over the three rounds and shot 3-over 75 in the first round.

As a team, Tulane placed sixth with a total score of 898.

Sophomore Carlota Palacios and redshirt sophomore Hana hose Bruxvoort placed tied for 32nd with a total score of 233. Palacios shot her best round of the tournament with a 3-over 75 in the first round. Bruxvoort closed the tournament with a 2-over 74 in the second round and a 4-over 76 in the third. She recorded nine birdies over the three rounds.

Freshman Miriam Emmert finished tied for 37th.

No. 14 Baylor took the team championship at 38-under 826, while SMU was the runner-up at 5-under 859. Houston's Maria Jose Martinez took the individual title at 14-under 202, while Lauren Heinlein of Kansas finished second at 10-under 206.

The Green Wave will be back in action on Sunday-Tuesday, April 18-20, as they travel to Pinehurst, N.C., for the American Athletic Conference Championship.
