Baumgardt Will Play for the U23 German National Team

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane baseball infielder Simon Baumgardt will suit up for the German National team in the 2021 Under 23 European Baseball Championship. The games will take place between Aug. 24-28 in Verona, Italy.

Baumgardt qualified for the team on account of his father's native German status.

The German National Team will take on the Ukrainian National Team in the opener on Aug 24. At Campo Gavagnin Verona. The team will follow up with the Netherlands on Aug. 25 and Belgium on Aug. 26.

Semifinal rounds will be on Aug. 27, the Bronze and Gold Medal games will be played on Aug. 28. Other teams in the tournament include Great Britain, France, Italy and the Czech Republic. Relegation.

As a redshirt freshman, Baumgardt saw action in 38 games during the 2021 season. He scored 18 runs, totaled 31 hits and drove in 20.
