
Tulane Women’s Basketball Battles Cougars in Houston on Monday

HOUSTON – Tulane University women's basketball (8-6, 0-3) will look to get into the win column in American Athletic Conference play as it visits Houston (9-7, 2-2) on Monday. Tipoff between the Green Wave and the Cougars is set for 2 p.m. CT in the Fertitta Center.Â

The Green Wave's matchup with the Cougars will be aired live on ESPN+. Fans can watch the game live by CLICKING HERE. This will be the 38th all-time meeting between Tulane and Houston. The Green Wave leads the series 29-18 after splitting the two matchups last season and taking the road victory in Houston. Tulane holds a 13-8 record all-time against the Cougars on the road including a 4-2 record since joining the AAC in 2014. Under head coach Lisa Stockton, Tulane is 28-17 against Houston.

Four players are averaging double figures in the scoring column for the Olive and Blue with redshirt senior Moon Ursin leading the team averaging 13.3 and 9.4 rebounds per game. The Destrehan, Louisiana, native ranks third in the AAC in rebounding and eighth in scoring. Dynah Jones follows with 12.2 points while Krystal Freeman is averaging 11.9 points and 8.0 boards per contest. Arsula Clark rounds out the top scorers for Tulane posting 11.9 and 4.4 assists per game.

Tulane is coming off its third-straight loss to open AAC after falling in overtime to SMU 67-62 on Saturday, January 15, in Dallas. The Green Wave was led by Clark with 18 points, 11 in the fourth quarter and overtime, six rebounds and five assists. Joining Clark in double figures were Mia Heide with 16 points, six rebounds and three blocks and Kaila Anderson with 14 points, three assists and two steals.

The Green Wave is 3-4 on the season away from home and averaging 68.6 points while allowing its opponents to score 70.7 points per game. Tulane is shooting 39.8 percent from the field and 34.7 percent from beyond the arc in road and neutral site contests. Outside of Uptown the Wave is even with its opponents on the glass averaging 40.0 rebounds compared to 40.1 per game by its opponents.

Houston is coming off a 62-54 loss on the road against Temple on Saturday, January 15. Laila Blair leads the Cougars in the scoring column averaging 12.8 points per game on 34.2 percent shooting from the field and 35.4 percent beyond the arc. Blair and Britney Onyeje lead Houston in conference play averaging 13.3 and 12.3 points per contest, respectively. The Cougars are 6-0 at home including 1-0 in league play this season. Houston is averaging 77.0 points per game while shooting 44.4 percent from the field and 38.9 percent from downtown in the Fertitta Center this season.

Following its matchup with the Cougars, the Green Wave will return home to face the Memphis Tigers on Wednesday, January 19. Tipoff between Tulane and Memphis is set for 6 p.m. CT.
