
Tulane Women’s Basketball Returns Home to Host Memphis on Wednesday

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University women's basketball (9-6, 1-3) will aim to carry the momentum from it last win as it hosts Memphis (10-4, 1-2) on Wednesday. Tipoff between the Green Wave and the Tigers is set for 6 p.m. CT in Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.
The Green Wave's matchup with the Tigers will be aired live on ESPN+. Fans can watch the game live by CLICKING HERE. Fans also can listen to the contest live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 88.3 WRBH with Gus Kattengell or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App.
This will be the 54th all-time meeting between Tulane and Memphis. The Green Wave trails the all-time series 24-29 despite winning both matchups last season including an 80-44 win in Uptown on Jan. 2, 2021. Tulane holds a 12-13 record all-time at home against the Tigers. Under head coach Lisa Stockton, Tulane is 22-15 against Memphis.
Four players are averaging at least 11 points for the Olive and Blue this season with redshirt senior Moon Ursin leading the team averaging 13.8 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. The Destrehan, Louisiana, native ranks third in the AAC in rebounding and sixth in scoring. Dynah Jones follows with 12.3 points while Arsula Clark is averaging 11.8 points and 4.2 assists per contest. Krystal Freeman rounds out the top scorers for Tulane posting 11.7 points and 8.1 rebounds per game.
Tulane is coming off its first win in American Athletic Conference play after defeating Houston 64-59 on the road Monday, Jan. 17. Ursin led the Green Wave finishing with 21 points and 13 rebounds to record her seventh double-double of the season. Jones followed with 13 points while Clark finished with 10 points including making the go-ahead bucket with 21 seconds left in the contest.
The Green Wave is 5-2 at home with wins over Southeastern Louisiana, TCU, South Alabama, Troy and Wofford so far this season. Tulane is averaging 73.1 points per game in home contests and outscoring its opponents by an average of 5.1 points. The Green Wave is also controlling the glass averaging 48.9 boards and outrebounding opponents by 10.9 rebounds per game in Uptown.
Memphis is coming off a 50-49 road victory over Wichita State on Sunday, Jan. 16. The Tigers are led by Jamirah Shutes who is averaging 12.1 points and 4.8 rebounds per game this season. Memphis leads the conference in rebounds margin at +9.3 and ranks third in the league in rebounds per game (42.43) and scoring defense (58.3). Shutes also leads the Tigers in conference play posting 12.0 points per contest on just 25.0 percent shooting from the field. The Tigers are 4-2 in true road games this season including 1-0 in league play.
Following its matchup with the Tigers, the Green Wave will host Wichita State on Saturday, January 22. Tipoff between Tulane and the Shockers is set for 2 p.m. CT.
