
Tulane Women’s Basketball Aims to Stay Hot as it Visits UCF Wednesday

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University women's basketball (11-6, 3-3) will go for its fourth consecutive American Athletic Conference victory as it visits UCF (12-3, 4-1) on Wednesday. Tipoff between the Green Wave and the Knights is set for 5 p.m. CT.
The Green Wave's matchup with the Knights will be aired live on ESPN+. Fans can watch the game live by CLICKING HERE. Fans also can listen to the contest live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 88.3 WRBH with Gus Kattengell or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App.
This will be the 28th all-time meeting between Tulane and UCF. The Green Wave leads the series 14-13 despite losing the last three matchups including earlier this season when Tulane lost 54-47 to the Knights in New Orleans on Jan. 5. Tulane holds a 4-7 record against the Knights on the road with its last win in Orlando, Fla., coming on Feb. 17, 2016, 65-53. The Green Wave's last win over UCF came on Jan. 22, 2020, 60-59 in Uptown. Under head coach Lisa Stockton Tulane holds a 13-11 advantage over the Knights.
Four players are averaging at least 11 points for the Olive and Blue this season with redshirt senior Moon Ursin leading the team averaging 13.5 and 9.5 rebounds per game. The Destrehan, Louisiana, native ranks third in the AAC in rebounding and eighth in scoring. Dynah Jones follows with 12.8 points while Arsula Clark is averaging 11.9 points and 4.3 assists. Krystal Freeman rounds out the top scorers for Tulane posting 11.4 points and 7.5 boards per contest.
Tulane is coming off three-straight victories against AAC opponents last week after defeating Houston on the road and Memphis and Wichita State at home. The Green Wave were led by the trio of Jones, Ursin and Clark in the perfect 3-0 week. Jones earned AAC Weekly Honor Roll after averaging 15.7 points per game during the week. Ursin followed by averaging a double-double with 14.3 points and 10.0 rebounds while Clark posted 12.0 points and 3.7 assists per contest during the three-game win streak.
The Green Wave holds a 2-3 record in true road games and is 4-4 away from home so far this season. Tulane is 1-1 on the road in conference play with it victory over Houston and a loss at SMU. The Wave is averaging 68.0 points per game away from Uptown this season while shooting 39.9 percent from the field and 34.5 percent from beyond the arc. The Green Wave continues to hold the advantage on the glass in road and neutral site contests outrebounding its opponents 40.8 to 38.4 per game.
UCF is coming off its first AAC loss of the season after falling 61-57 on the road to Cincinnati on Saturday, Jan. 22. The Knights are led by the duo of Diamond Battles with 13.9 points and Tay Sanders with 11.2 points per game this season. On the other side of the ball, UCF leads the conference and ranks third nationally in scoring defense allowing just 49.5 points per game. The Knights also lead the league in field-goal percentage defense holding their opponents to just 35.2 percent from the field. UCF boasts a 5-1 record at home this season including 2-0 in league play. The Knights are holding their opponents to an average of 49.0 points on 34.6 percent shooting and forcing 20.2 turnovers per game at home this season. UCF is outscoring its opponents by 8.8 points per game in six matchups in Orlando, Fla., this year.
Following its matchup with the Knights, the Green Wave will return to Uptown to host East Carolina on Saturday, Jan. 29. Tipoff between Tulane and the Pirates is set for 3 p.m. CT.
