
Tulane Hosting UCF to Begin AAC Play Wednesday Night

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University women's basketball team (8-3) will open American Athletic Conference play as it hosts the University of Central Florida (8-2) on Wednesday. Tipoff between the Green Wave and the Knights is set for 6 p.m. CT in the Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse. Â

The Green Wave's matchup with the Knights will be aired live on ESPN+. Fans can watch the game live by CLICKING HERE. Fans also can listen to the contest live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 88.3 WRBH with Gus Kattengell or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App.

This will be the 27th all-time meeting between the Tulane and UCF. The Green Wave is 14-12 against the Knights in program history including an 8-3 record at home. Under Coach Stockton, Tulane holds a 13-10 record against the Knights. Tulane dropped both contests last season against UCF by a combined six points. The last time the Wave topped the Knights came on Jan. 22, 2020, when Tulane defeated UCF 60-59 at home.

Four players are averaging double figures in the scoring column for the Olive and Blue with redshirt senior Moon Ursin leading the team averaging 15.5 and 9.7 rebounds per game. Krystal Freeman follows with 12.8 points and 7.6 boards per contest while Dynah Jones is averaging 12.5 points. Arsula Clark rounds out the top scorers for Tulane posting 11.3 and 4.7 assists per game.

Tulane is coming off a 72-62 victory over Wofford on December 30, 2021, at home. The Green Wave were led by Ursin and Jones in the contest as they each posted 14 points on the scoreboard. Ursin added a season-high 14 rebounds to record her fifth double-double of the season. Her five double-doubles rank second in the league and 19th in the nation.

The Green Wave is off to a 5-0 start at home for the first time since the 2018-19 campaign when it also began the season with five consecutive victories in Uptown. Tulane has wins over Southeastern Louisiana, TCU, South Alabama, Troy and Wofford this season. The Wave is averaging 80.6 points per game in home contests and outscoring its opponents by an average of 10.9 points. The Green Wave is also dominating the glass averaging 53.8 boards and outrebounding opponents by 13.6 rebounds per game in Uptown.

UCF enters the matchup after having its two previous contests either canceled or postponed. In its last game UCF lost on the road to 14th-ranked Iowa on December 18, 2021, 69-61. The Knights are led by Diamond Battles who is averaging 14.5 points per game and Tay Sanders who adds 10.8 points per contest. UCF ranks second in the nation in scoring defense limiting its opponents to 48.2 points per game while averaging 58.1 points on the other end of the floor. The Knights come into the game with a 5-1 record in road and neutral site contests.
