In the first half Tulane led by as much as nine, but Western Kentucky cut the lead quickly going on an 11-2 run late in the half to knot it up at 29. Tulane was out shot in the second half with the Hilltoppers shooting 53.6% from the field and 54.5% from beyond the arc. Tulane was just 1-8 from three-point range in the second, creating a deficit they couldn't quite get out of.
One last effort from Tulane had them down by just two with 15 seconds left to play, but it wouldn't be enough to get past Western Kentucky.
