
Tulane Women’s Basketball Travels to Face Tulsa Wednesday

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University women's basketball (16-7, 7-4) will go for its sixth-straight victory and its fifth consecutive against American Athletic Conference competition as it visits Tulsa (14-6, 4-5) Wednesday. Tipoff between the Green Wave and the Golden Hurricane is set for 6:30 p.m. CT from the Reynolds Center.
The Green Wave's matchup with the Golden Hurricane will be aired live on ESPN+. Fans can watch the game live by CLICKING HERE. Fans also can listen to the contest live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 88.3 WRBH with Gus Kattengell or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App.
This will be 35th all-time meeting between Tulane and Tulsa with the Wave leading the series 25-9. Tulane has won the last five matchups against Tulsa with the last win coming on February 10, 2021, by a 64-47 decision in New Orleans. The Wave holds a 10-6 advantage over the Golden Hurricane on the road including wins in its last two trips to Tulsa. Head Coach Lisa Stockton holds a 24-9 advantage over Tulsa during her time at Tulane including a 10-5 road record against the Golden Hurricanes.
Four players are averaging at least 11 points for the Olive and Blue this season with redshirt senior Moon Ursin leading the team averaging 14.1 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. The Destrehan, Louisiana, native ranks fourth in the AAC in rebounding and seventh in scoring. Dynah Jones joins Ursin in the top-10 in scoring in the league with 12.9 points per contest and is averaging a team-high 14.1 points in league games. Krystal Freeman follows with 11.9 points and 7.6 boards while Arsula rounds out the top scorers for Tulane posting 11.5 points and 4.2 assists per contest.
The Green Wave holds a 4-4 record in true road games and is 6-5 away from home so far this season. Tulane is 3-2 on the road in conference play including wins in its last two road contests. The Wave is averaging 68.5 points per game away from Uptown this season while shooting 40.3 percent from the field and 35.2 percent from beyond the arc. The Green Wave continues to hold the advantage on the glass in road and neutral site contests outrebounding its opponents 40.3 to 37.3 per game.
In its last time out, Tulane won its fifth-straight contest and its fourth consecutive AAC game as it defeated Cincinnati 80-56 at home Sunday. Ursin recorded her ninth double-double of the year with 18 points and 10 rebounds while Sierra Cheatham scored a season-high 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting from downtown.
Tulsa is coming off a home loss to Temple, 73-58, on Saturday, February 12. Five players average double figures for the Golden Hurricane in scoring. Sisters Wyvette and Maya Mayberry lead the team averaging 14.4 and 13.3 points per game, respectively. Tulsa leads the AAC and ranks second in the nation in fewest turnovers. The Golden Hurricane leads the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.26), field goal percentage (43.4%), free throw percentage (75.5%), three-point field goal percentage (37.8%), three-point field goals per game (8.3) and three-point field goals made (166). Tulsa is 7-3 at home this season while averaging 73.3 points on 43.7 percent shooting from the field and 37.2 percent from beyond the arc.
Following its matchup with the Golden Hurricane, the Green Wave will return to Uptown to host Houston on Sunday, February 20. Tipoff between Tulane and the Cougars is set for 5 p.m. CT.
