
Tulane Women’s Basketball Visits USF Sunday

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University women's basketball (13-7, 4-4) will aim to move above .500 in American Athletic Conference play as it battles USF (16-5, 6-1) on Sunday in Tampa, Fla. Tipoff between the Green Wave and the Bulls is set for 11 a.m. CT from the Yuengling Center.
The Green Wave's matchup with the Bulls will be aired live on ESPNU. Fans can watch the game live by CLICKING HERE. Fans also can listen to the contest live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 88.3 WRBH with Gus Kattengell or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App.
This will be 48th all-time meeting between Tulane and USF. The Green Wave trails the series 19-28 including losing the last 19 matchups against the Bulls. Tulane is 8-12 all-time against the Bulls on the road with seven-straight losses in South Florida. USF took the first matchup this season by a 75-62 decision on Jan. 12 in New Orleans. The last time the Wave beat the Bulls came on Dec. 17, 2009, when Tulane defeated USF 76-72 in Tampa, Fla. Head Coach Lisa Stockton holds 16-27 record against USF during her time at Tulane.
Four players are averaging at least 11 points for the Olive and Blue this season with redshirt senior Moon Ursin leading the team averaging 13.9 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. The Destrehan, Louisiana, native ranks third in the AAC in rebounding and ninth in scoring. Dynah Jones joins Ursin in the top-10 in scoring in the league with 12.8 points per contest and is averaging a team-high 14.3 points in league games. Arsula Clark follows with 11.8 points and 4.0 assists while Krystal Freeman rounds out the top scorers for Tulane posting 11.4 points and 7.4 boards per contest.
In its last time out, Tulane put together a dominant non-conference win over Tougaloo College on Wednesday, 97-43. Twelve players got into the scoring column for the Green Wave in the victory with four reaching double figures. Five players recorded a season-high in points against the Bulldogs including Marta Galic and Irina Parau who each scored 11 points. Ursin led all scorers in the contest with 18 points along with five rebounds and four assists.
USF is coming off its fourth consecutive win after defeating Houston 55-35 on Sunday, Jan. 30, on the road. The Bulls are led by the trio of Elena Tsineke (14.8 ppg), Dulcy Mendjiadeu Fankam (11.7 ppg) and Bethy Mununga (10.7 ppg, 11.8 rpg). As a team, USF ranks in the top 25 nationally in scoring defense (24th) allowing 55.1 points per game and rebound margin (25th) pulling down 8.3 more boards per game than its opponents. The Bulls hold a 7-0 record at home this season while scoring 68.1 points on 41.5 percent shooting from the field. On the defensive end, USF is holding its opponents to 53.7 points per game in Tampa.
Following its matchup with the Bulls, the Green Wave will stay on the road as it takes on Memphis on Thursday, February 10. Tipoff between Tulane and the Tigers is set for 7 p.m. CT from Memphis, Tennessee.
