
Tulane Women’s Basketball Hosts Alabama for the WNIT Round of 32 Monday

NEW ORLEANS –Tulane University women's basketball (21-9, 11-5) will aim to advance to the WNIT Round of 16 as it hosts Alabama (18-13, 6-10) Monday night. Tipoff between the Green Wave and the Crimson Tide is set for 6:30 p.m. CT in Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.

The Green Wave's quarterfinal matchup will be aired live on ESPN3. Fans can watch the game live by CLICKING HERE. This marks Tulane's eighth appearance in the WNIT Round of 32. The Wave holds an 11-8 overall record in the WNIT and is 4-3 all-time in the Round of 32. The Green Wave also boasts an 8-0 record at home in the tournament. The last time Tulane played in the WNIT Round of 32 the Wave lost to Ole Miss 71-62 in Memphis, Tennessee.

The Green Wave and the Crimson Tide have met 15 times in program history with Alabama leading the all-time series 10-5. In the most recent meeting, Tulane defeated the Tide 69-66 earlier this season on November 14, 2021, in Tuscaloosa. The Wave holds a 4-4 record against Alabama in New Orleans with the last time Tulane beat the Tide at home came on March 16, 2016, 53-52 in the first round of the WNIT.

A trio earned conference honors for Tulane at the conclusion of the regular season. Redshirt senior Moon Ursin was named the AAC Newcomer of the Year and earned First Team All-AAC Honors. Krystal Freeman and Dynah Jones each landed Third Team All-AAC selection for the Green Wave.

Four players are averaging at least 11 points for the Olive and Blue this season with Ursin leading the team each averaging 13.7 points. The redshirt senior adds 8.5 rebounds per game to the stat sheet and ranks third in the AAC in rebounding and seventh in scoring. Jones rates ninth in the league in scoring with 13.4 points per game and averaged a team-high 15.1 points in league games. Freeman follows with 11.9 points and 7.5 rebounds while Arsula Clark rounds out the top scorers for Tulane posting 11.5 points and 4.1 assists per contest.

Alabama enters the matchup after defeating Troy 82-79 on the road in the first round of the WNITÂ on Thursday. The Crimson Tide is led by a trio averaging double figures in scoring. Brittany Davis paces Alabama with 17.3 points per game while Megan Abrams and JaMya Mingo-Young follow with 15.0 and 11.2 points per contest. As a team, the Tide averages 70.9 points per game on 41.4 percent shooting from the field and 33.2 percent beyond the arc. This is the eighth WNIT appearance for Alabama and its first since 2018. The Tide holds a 12-7 record all-time in the WNIT.
