
Baseball Heads to Memphis to Open Conference Play

NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane University baseball team (16-9-1) will hit the road to start off AAC play in Memphis (12-9) for a three-game series starting on Friday.
The showdown is Tulane's first set of conference games of the season and starts an eight-week American Conference battle that leads to the postseason.
THE MATCHUP
- First pitches are scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Friday, 2:00 p.m. on Saturday and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
- The matchup can be viewed on ESPN+ on Friday and can be heard on WRBH 88.3 FM. and the Varsity app all three days.
- Tulane bested Memphis in seven of its eight meetings in the 2021 season, outscoring the tigers 63-16.

HIGHLIGHTING THE WAVE
- Tulane is 5-1 in weekend series including series wins over Mississippi State and LA Tech.
- Tulane is currently fifth in NCAA Division I baseball in doubles with 67 through 26 games. The Wave trails the number one spot, Tennessee, by seven doubles.
- The Green Wave hits .268 as a group and has a 4.32 ERA as a pitching staff.
- Freshman Grant Siegel touts a 0.62 ERA accumulated over 29.0 innings of work. The right-hander has the third-lowest ERA in the nation.
- Redshirt sophomore Ethan Groff leads the Green Wave in hits (33), runs scored (25), and doubles (13). Groff is tied for seventh in the nation in two-baggers.
- Freshman outfielder Jackson Linn has a .422 average over 45 at-bats and has an eleven-game reached base streak coming out of the mid-week matchup against UNO.

- Tulane dropped a midweek clash to New Orleans 16-4 Tuesday night on the Lakefront.
- All of Tulane's runs were scored on the long ball including two homeruns from Luis Aviles.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS
- Memphis is coming off a midweek loss to the reigning national champion Mississippi State 10-4.
- Memphis has collected series wins over Valparaiso, Brown, Samford and Southern Illinois Edwardsville.
- The Tigers pitching staff has a 4.94 ERA and the batters hit .283 as a group.
- Sophomore infielder Logan Kohler leads the club in average (.321), hits (26), and doubles (4).
