Tulane Women’s Tennis Falls on the Road to No. 54 Memphis
Apr 10, 2022 | Women's Tennis
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Tulane University women's tennis team dropped its match to No. 54 Memphis 4-2 on the second day of a back-to-back on the road in Memphis, Tennessee, on Sunday. The Green Wave tried to battle back after losing the doubles point by picking up a pair of victories in singles, but the comeback bid fell short as the Tigers earned three wins in singles action.
With the win Tulane dropped to 11-8 overall on the season and moved to 2-6 in matches outside of New Orleans this year.
The Green Wave fell behind early as Memphis claimed the doubles point with wins on courts two and three while the 72nd-ranked duo in the country for Tulane, Lahari Yelamanchili and Charlotte Russell, was in a back-and-forth battle on court one.
In singles play, Russell improved to 10-4 on the season earning a two-set win on court five and Adelaide Lavery pulled back to .500 at 6-6 on the year with a two-set victory of her own on court three. Memphis, however, picked up wins on courts one, two and six to clinch the overall match.
Up next, the Green Wave will travel to Mobile, Alabama, to conclude the regular season with a match at South Alabama on April 15. The match between Tulane and the Jaguars is set for 2 p.m. CT.
