Tulane Women’s Tennis Tops South Alabama

MOBILE, ALA. – The Tulane University women's tennis team finished the regular season in the win column as the Wave defeated South Alabama 4-1 on the road on Friday. The Green Wave picked up the doubles point before building a 3-0 lead until it closed out the victory in singles play.
With the win, Tulane improves to 12-8 on the season and finishes with a 3-6 mark in matches outside of New Orleans on the year.
The match started in favor of the Wave as the pairings of Mackenzie Clark and Kristen Borland and Adelaide Lavery and Jiayun Zhu earned wins to secure the doubles point for Tulane.
Moving into singles action, Borland put Tulane up 2-0 by earning a two-set win on court four 6-1, 6-3. After the Jaguars picked up their first point of the day, Lavery responded with another point for the Green Wave to make the score 3-1 after a two-set win 6-4, 7-6. Charlotte Russell clinched the match for Tulane with her 12th singles win of the spring as she won in two sets 6-3, 6-4 to give Tulane the 4-1 victory overall.
Up next, the Green Wave will head to the American Athletic Conference tournament in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The tournament begins Wednesday, April 20, at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
