Tulane Baseball Faces off With ECU in Pivotal AAC Showdown

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University baseball team (24-13-1) is hosting East Carolina University (23-15) for three crucial games this weekend inside Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.

THE MATCHUP

First pitch on Friday and Saturday is at 2:00 p.m. and Sunday's finale starts at 12:00 p.m.
The matchup can be viewed on ESPN+ and can be heard on WRBH 88.3 FM.
The all-time series is tied at 33-33.
Tulane is tied for second in the AAC standings, just one game behind ECU in first.

HIGHLIGHTING THE WAVE

The Wave is hitting .278 as a club and the pitching staff has a 4.68 ERA.
Tulane is 6-3 in the AAC, with series wins against Memphis and USF.
In its nine conference games, the Green Wave is hitting .303.
Redshirt sophomore Ethan Groff is hitting .424, the highest average in the AAC by .048 points and tied for the fifth highest mark in NCAA D1 baseball.
Sophomore Dylan Carmouche (4-1) has a 4.21 ERA over 51.1 innings of work. The southpaw has struck out 54 batters, the fifth most by any pitcher in the AAC.

SCOUTING THE PIRATES

ECU hits .276 as a squad and carries a 4.05 ERA into the weekend.
The Pirates have won five straight, including a sweep at UCF last weekend.
Senior outfielder Bryson Worrell was named the AAC Player-of-the-Week after leading the Pirates to a 4-0 week while collecting seven hits, including two home runs.
Junior Lane Hoover has 54 hits, giving him the third highest batting average in the AAC at .375.
Sophomore Alec Makarewicz leads the club in home runs (7) and RBIs (32).

LAST TIME OUT

The Wave dropped a midweek clash with No. 6 Southern Miss. on Tuesday, 11-5.

Ethan Groff continued his season-long tear, going 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk.
Tulane struck out 17 times, the most punchouts by the Wave all season.
The Green Wave used ten different arms, and none went longer than two innings.
