NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University baseball team (26-14-1; 8-4) is heading to Mobile, Ala. to take on the University of South Alabama (22-16; 9-9) for a midweek clash on Tuesday.

After taking down ECU in a three-game series, Tulane is in a three-way tie atop the AAC with the Pirates and UCF. The Green Wave will look to stay hot in the first of two games against South Alabama this season.Â

THE MATCHUP
- First pitch is at 6:30 p.m. inside Stanky Field.
- The matchup can be heard on WRBH 88.3 FM.
- South Alabama leads the all-time series 26-23.
- Tulane will host the Jaguars on May 10th, completing the two-game series.
HIGHLIGHTING THE WAVE
- The Wave is hitting .279 as a club and the pitching staff has a 4.70 ERA.
- Tulane is 8-4 in the AAC, with series wins against Memphis, USF, and ECU.
- The Green Wave is 7-4 in midweek games and has outscored opponents 93-63.
- Redshirt sophomore Ethan Groff is hitting .413, the highest average in the AAC by .028 points and the 14th highest mark in NCAA D1 baseball. Groff is in the top five in the AAC of almost every offensive statistic and leads the conference in runs, doubles, total bases, OBP, and OPS.
- The second highest average in the AAC belongs to Tulane's own freshman outfielder Jackson Linn at .385. Linn made the AAC Weekly Honor Roll after collecting six hits, five runs, five RBI, and two home runs last week.
- Sophomore Dylan Carmouche (5-1) has a 4.32 ERA over 58.1 innings of work. The southpaw has struck out 58 batters, the fourth most by any pitcher in the AAC.
SCOUTING THE JAGUARS
- South Alabama hits .289 as a squad and has a 4.12 staff ERA.
- The Jaguars are 9-9 in the Sun Belt Conference and have a 14-5 record at home.Â
- Senior outfielder Miles Simington leads the Sun Belt in batting average (.395) and hits (60). Simington has struck out only 13 times in 176 plate appearances.
- Junior infielder Santi Montiel is second on the club in RBI with 31 and leads South Alabama with eight home runs.
- Redshirt junior Walker Johnson has started the last two midweek games for the Jaguars. Johnson has a 3.86 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 16.0 innings of work.Â
LAST TIME OUT
- The Green Wave is coming off an impressive series victory over ECU last weekend, the first series win over the Pirates since 2016.Â
- Tulane scored ten runs in Friday's win and 11 in Sunday's victory. ECU had allowed ten or more runs in just three games coming into the series.
- Freshman Michael Massey (3-2) allowed just one earned run in five innings of work in Sunday's series clincher.
