Tulane Women’s Tennis Tops Cincinnati, 4-1

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Tulane University women's tennis team bounced back into the win column after defeating Cincinnati 4-1 in a neutral site match in Memphis, Tennessee, on Saturday. The Green Wave jumped out to an early lead by taking the doubles point and the first two points in singles action before closing out the victory over the Bearcats.
With the win Tulane improved to 11-7 overall on the season and moved to 2-5 in matches outside of New Orleans this year. The Green Wave is now 2-0 all-time against the Bearcats.
The 72nd-ranked duo in the country, Lahari Yelamanchili and Charlotte Russell, got Tulane off to a strong start with a 6-2 win to begin doubles play. The victory improves the duos record to 14-3 this spring for the Green Wave. The duo of Adelaide Lavery and Jiayun Zhu clinched the doubles point for the Wave with a hard-fought 7-5 win.
Russell kept the momentum rolling for Tulane into singles action picking up a two-set win (6-1, 6-2) on court five to put the Wave up 2-0. On court two, Mackenzie Clark made it a three-point advantage for the Green Wave as she earned a two-set victory 6-1, 6-2. After Cincinnati picked up its lone point of the match, Zhu secured the overall match for Tulane with a two-set victory of her own 6-2, 6-3.
Up next, the Green Wave will face Memphis on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. CT.
