Tulane Wraps Up Opening Weekend on Lake Pontchartrain

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University Sailing team opened the 2022 fall campaign with the SEISA Singlehanded Championships and Match Race Championship on Lake Pontchartrain over the weekend.

Competition began on Friday with the Wave hitting the water to race for a pair of singlehanded championships. Ashley Hoguet earned the SEISA Women's Singlehanded Championship title by defeating Essie Clifton. Thad Lettsome claimed the SEISA Singlehanded Championship topping Ryan Ehnot.

Tulane concluded on Sunday by winning the SEISA Match Race Championship. The Wave split into a pair of teams for the race with skipper Cameron Giblin leading Green Wave 1 and skipper Zander King leading Green Wave 2. Giblin with his crew of Quinn Keenan, Abigail Borggaard and Mia Hanes earned the victory in the end to claim the match race title.

Up next, Tulane will host the Sugar Bowl Women's Fleet Race and Open Fleet Race on Lake Pontchartrain on Saturday and Sunday, September 24-25.
