
Green Wave Set for Road Regattas

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University sailing team will be back on the road this weekend for a separate regattas New Haven, Connecticut, and Kings Point, New York, on Saturday and Sunday, October 14-15. The Green Wave women's team will race in the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship while the Tulane coed team will compete in the Nevins Trophy Open Fleet Race.

After finishing fourth in the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship last fall, the Green Wave is set to compete against 17 other teams in the field this weekend. Tulane will be represented on the water by Sammie Gardner with Andrea Riefkohl-Gonzalez in the A Division and Mia Hanes with Ellie Spearman in the B Division. Caroline Benson, Abigail Borggaard, Oakley Cunningham, and Sloane Mullin will also make the journey to New Haven, Connecticut, to be available as reserves.

Racing for the Women's ACC Championship will take place at the Yale Corinthian Yacht Club on the waters of Granite Bay. Competition will begin at 10 a.m. CT on Saturday and 9 a.m. CT on Sunday.

Tulane has not raced for the Nevins Trophy since 2021 when the Wave finished fourth. Representing the Green Wave on the water will be Kelly Holthus with Gillian Perrell in the A Division and Zander King with Alex Makoid in the B Division. The reserves for Tulane will be Cate Anderson, Caitlin Briggs, Matheo Capasso, and Brady Starck.

The Green Wave along with the 17 other programs competing for the Nevins Trophy will hit the waters of Little Neck Bay for the first races at 9 a.m. CT on Saturday and Sunday.
