
Green Wave Returns Home to Host Prairie View Wednesday

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University men's basketball will aim to improve to 5-1 to start the season Wednesday night as it returns to Uptown to host Prairie View A&M in Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse. The potential 5-1 start for the Green Wave would mark its best start to a season since opening the 2019-20 campaign 7-1.

The game between the Green Wave and the Panthers is set to tipoff at 6 p.m. on ESPN+. Fans can also listen to the action live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 104.1 The Spot with the Voice of the Green Wave Corey Gloor or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App.

This marks the 12th all-time meeting between the Green Wave and the Panthers with Tulane holding a 10-1 advantage. The Wave has won the last four meeting with the latest victory coming on December 14, 2015, 63-49. All 11 previous matchups in the series have been played in New Orleans.

In its last time out, Tulane split a pair of games last week at the SoCal Challenge in San Juan Capistrano, California. The Green Wave suffered its first loss of the season against Bradley 80-77 before bouncing back for a come from behind victory over Cal 84-81. Senior forward Kevin Cross was named to the SoCal Challenge Surf Division All-Tournament Team after averaging 19.0 points in the two contests.

All five starters are averaging double figures in scoring so far this season for the Green Wave. Cross leads the team with 19.2 points per game to go with a team high 8.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists. Cross is also the only player in the American Athletic Conference to rank in the top 10 in the league in scoring, field goal percentage, rebounding, assists, assist to turnover ratio, and blocks.

Sion James is the next leading scorer for the Wave averaging 15.4 points per game followed by Kolby King with 14.8 points per contest. Jaylen Forbes and Collin Holloway round out the leaders for Tulane scoring 12.3 and 10.8 points per game, respectively.

Through November 26, the Green Wave leads the AAC in scoring offense (86.40), field goal percentage (.515), steals (12.00), turnovers forced (18.40), and turnover margin (+8.80). Tulane also ranks in the top 10 nationally in turnovers forced per game and turnover margin.

The Panthers enter the matchup on a three-game winning streak with a 4-2 record overall. The team defeated Eastern Kentucky 76-64 on the road Tuesday. Three players average double figures for the Panthers – Charles Smith IV with 15.5, Chris Felix Jr. with 12.7, and Nicholas
Gazelas with 10.5. The team holds a 2-2 record in road contests so far this season with wins in its last two road games at Abilene Christian and Eastern Kentucky. Its two losses came at Seattle University and Washington State.

Following the matchup with the Braves, the Green Wave will play its first true road game on Sunday as it travels to New York to face Fordham. The game between the Wave and the Rams will tipoff at 12 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
