
Women’s Basketball Earns 66-57 Victory Over Little Rock

New Orleans – Marta Galic put up a career-high 24 points to lead Tulane's women's basketball team (6-4) to a thrilling 66-57 victory over Little Rock (0-10) on Wednesday in the first game of the Tulane Holiday Tournament at Devlin Fieldhouse.
Galic shot 7-for-11 from the field, 5-for-6 from three-point range and 5-for-6 from the line. Kyren Whittington also tallied double figures with 15 points. She also had four rebounds, three assists and two steals plus a block. Irina Parau recorded eight points and five rebounds. Kaylah Rainey picked up eight points, four rebounds and six assists plus a pair of steals. Amira Mabry recorded seven points and five rebounds. Hannah Pratt chipped in with four points, five rebounds and a steal. Chiara Grattini and Joy Madison-Key each recorded an assist in the game.
Little Rock was led by 20 points, three rebounds and three steals from Jayla Brooks. Lelani Wimbish-Gay picked up 15 points. Faith Lee also reached double figures with 13 points.
The game featured five lead changes and five tied scores. Tulane's largest lead was 10 points late in the second quarter. The best run for the Green Wave was 13-0 also in the second quarter. Tulane shot 48.9 percent from the field (22-for-45), 42.9 percent from three-point range (6-for-14) and 72.7 percent from the free throw line (16-for-22). The Green Wave totaled 27 rebounds, 14 assists, seven steals and two blocks.
Little Rock shot 47.1 percent from the field (24-for-51), 33.3 percent from three-point range (5-for-15) and 50 percent from the line (4-for-8). The Trojans recorded 24 rebounds, 21 assists, 10 steals and a block.
A late layup at the end of first quarter by Mabry tied the score up at 14 after one. Tulane held a slight 17-13 lead in the second quarter scoring to take a 31-27 advantage to the break. The Green Wave offense outscored the Trojans 19-16 in the third to lead 50-43 after three. The Tulane offense closed the game outscoring Little Rock 16-14 to win this one by the final 66-57 margin.
Next, Tulane wraps up play at the Tulane Holiday Tournament and takes on the winner of Maine or Duquesne at approximately 1:30 p.m. in the winner's bracket game.

The win improved Tulane to 4-0 all-time against Little Rock…This was the first matchup for Tulane against the Trojans since 2015…The program is 5-0 all-time against current schools in the Ohio Valley Conference with this victory and the 71-49 win against Tennessee Tech in last season's Tulane Holiday Classic…Marta Galic's 24 points were her third time ever scoring 20 plus points in her career…Galic's 24 points was the fifth time this season that a Tulane individual player has scored 20 or more points (Kyren Whittington 4x)…Galic's five made threes in the game were the most for a Tulane player since Whittington had six made threes against Temple last January…Whittington's 15 points today was her ninth time in 10 games this season in double figures…She enters Thursday's game just three points shy of 1,000 in her collegiate career between playing at Louisiana Monroe and now Tulane… Kaylah Rainey tied her season-best with eight points and six assists in the game…The victory was a season-best third straight for the Green Wave…This is the longest winning streak for Tulane since Feb. 12-25, 2023 when the program won four straight games.
