Tulane Faces George Mason in Uptown Friday Afternoon

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University men's basketball (8-2) will aim to remain unbeaten at home as it welcomes George Mason (9-2) into Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse on Friday afternoon. The Green Wave holds a 6-0 record at home and is averaging 98.5 points per game in Uptown so far this season.

The game between the Green Wave and the Patriots is set to tipoff at 1 p.m. on ESPN+. This marks the fourth all-time meeting between the Green Wave and the Patriots with Tulane trailing the series 2-1. George Mason won the latest meeting 62-56 in Chicago last season. The last time the Wave defeated the Patriots was Nov. 28, 2009, in New Orleans by a final score of 76-71.

In its last time out, Kevin Cross led Tulane to a 105-81 victory over Southern on Saturday by recording his second consecutive triple double finishing with 20 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds. The Green Wave tallied more than 100 points in back-to-back games for the first time since 1976 after posting 115 points in the double overtime win over Furman on Thursday.

Cross became the first player to have a triple double in consecutive games against Division I opponents in 15 years and joined Penny Hardaway as the only Division I players with consecutive 20-plus point triple doubles since assists became official in 1984. He is also only the eighth Division I player to ever record back-to-back triple doubles.

Following his historic performance on the court against Furman and Southern, Cross earned multiple national and conference honors. The Little Rock, Arkansas, native was named Player of the Week by the USBWA Oscar Robertson Award, the Associated Press, ESPN, the American Athletic Conference, and the Louisiana Sports Writers Association. He averaged 22.5 points, 11.5 assists, and 11.0 rebounds in the two wins for the Wave.

Through December 19, the Green Wave leads the AAC in scoring offense (91.7), field goal percentage (.536), free throws made per game (24.3), free throws attempted per game (32.6), and steals (10.4). The Wave also ranks first in the country in field goal percentage and third nationally in scoring.

George Mason enters the matchup on a two-game winning streak with a 9-2 record after picking up a win at home over Bridgewater 84-60 on Tuesday. George Mason is 1-1 so far this season on the road with an 86-77 win at Toledo and an 87-66 loss at #17/13 Tennessee.

Three players are averaging double figures in scoring for the Patriots led by Keyshawn Hall at 16.5 points per game. Darius Maddox adds 13.3 points per game for the Patriots while Amari Kelly averages 11.6 points per contest.
