NEW ORLEANS – Tulane junior Teo Banks has been named the American Athletic Conference's Preseason Player of the Year, the league office announced Thursday afternoon.
Â
The Odessa, Texas native hit .301 last season with 18 home runs, 46 runs scored and 51 RBI to help lead the Green Wave on a charge through the American Athletic Conference Tournament, where he was named the week's Most Outstanding Player. Tulane captured the title with a surge from the bracket's No. 7 seed and earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament's Baton Rouge Regional. He also garnered second-team all-conference honors during the regular season.Â
Â
Banks also led the Green Wave in slugging percentage (.607) and total bases (133) en route to adding second-team all-Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) honors over the summer.
