
Green Wave Ready for Home Matchup with Mustangs

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University Women's Basketball (14-11, 4-8) will look to pick up back-to-back American Athletic Conference victories as it hosts SMU (15-7, 6-4) on Wednesday night. The matchup between the Green Wave and the Mustangs is set to tipoff at 6 p.m. in Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.

This marks the 41st all-time meeting between Tulane and SMU with the Green Wave leading the series 25-15. The Green Wave and the Mustangs split their two matchups last season with each team winning at home. SMU took the first meeting 67-62 on January 15, 2022, in Dallas. Tulane won the latest matchup 67-58 on February 23, 2022, in New Orleans. The Wave holds a 13-6 record at home against SMU. The last time Tulane lost at home to SMU came on February 24, 2019, by a final score of 60-64.

In its last time out, Tulane snapped its four-game losing streak by defeating Tulsa 69-67 on the road on Sunday. Kierra Middleton recorded a career-high 18 points to lead the Green Wave in scoring. Marta Galic posted her fifth double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds while Irina Parau notched her first double-double of the year with 10 points and 11 boards.

SMU enters the matchup with an 15-7 overall record and a 6-4 mark in league play after defeating Tulsa at home 81-58 in its last contest on Tuesday, February 7. The Mustangs rank second the conference in scoring defense holding opponents to 58.4 points per game. SMU is third in the league in steals (8.73) and fourth in blocks (4.09).
