Tulane Golf Looks to Defend its AAC Title Beginning Monday

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. - The defending conference champions look to defend their title at the American Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championship at Southern Hills Plantation Club in Brooksville, Florida.
Last season Tulane won its first women's golf title since joining the AAC and made its first NCAA regional appearance since 2016. Head Coach Stew Burke was named the AAC Coach of the Year while Sandra Vazquez, Carla Bernat and Cleo Liu earned All-Conference nods.
The AAC is a loaded this year with six schools ranking within the team top 100. UCF leads the field at No. 20 and are joined by No. 28 SMU, No. 36 Tulsa, No. 37 Houston, No. 56 Florida. Tulane comes in at No. 60.
Golfstat No. 6 Bernat enters the tournament as the top ranked individual in the American. Nine other golfers in the field rank in the top 100.
Tulane's lineup this week is the same as last year's tournament with Bernat, Vazquez, Liu, Matilde Innocenti and Miriam Emmert. Senior Carlota Palacios is along to serve as Tulane's alternate if needed.
The Green Wave has not finished outside of the top ten this season with its best finish being second place at the Rivertowne Invitational and the Tulane Classic. The team finished third at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate and fourth at the Green Wave Classic.
Tulane is paired with South Florida in the first round with tee times beginning at 8:25 a.m.
