Aug 27, 2023 | Women's Volleyball
In the final day of the Jaguar classic in Mobile, Alabama, Tulaneย fellย toย a talented South Alabama team, 3-0.
ย

ย
Freshman setter, Zoe Rachow, had career high assists in the match with 14. Sophomore, Katherine Crosley, also had a career high game. The right-side hitter finished the match with 7 kills and a .750 hit percentage.
ย
In the first set, South Alabama came out hot with help from a rowdy Jaguar crowd. The Jaguars went up 3-0 almost immediately and kept the momentum throughout the match. The Green Wave trailed by three or more points the entire set. Tulane ended up losing the set, 25-18.
ย
In the second set, the Green Wave came out firing with a quick kill from Burks. However, every point Tulane put up, the Jaguars were immediate to answer. The Green Wave was able to keep it within one point at 11-10, however, the Jaguars were hard to contain for long. The Wave lost the set, 25-18.
ย
In the third set, Tulane showed the crowd in Mobile that they were not yet defeated. South Alabama came out hot with 2 quick points. However, Tulane had answers for every point South Alabama was able to score and, thanks to a momentum shifting call that was reversed, the Green Wave went up 9-6 and was able to have the secure the largest lead they have had all match. Even though South Alabama had answers for the many of the Green Wave's points, Tulane kept their lead until the Jaguars fought to tie it up at 19-19. The Green Wave was unable to regain their momentum and ended up losing the set 25-19.
ย
The Green Wave will have the chance to improve to 2-2 when they take on the Crimson Tide of Alabama on this Friday at 6:30 PM in their home opener. This game will be a part of the Green Wave Classic that takes place at the Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse in New Orleans this Friday through Sunday.
