
The Green Wave is Bested by the Tigers

On the second day of the Tulane Invitational, the Green Wave was defeated by Clemson, 3-0.ย
Tulane was led offensively by outside hitter Avery Burks, once again. The freshman finished the match with eight kills. She was also tied for second on the team in digs, finishing with eight.ย
The Green Wave's blocking prowess continued to prevail in the match. The team finished with 14 total blocks. Graduate middle blocker Orsula Staka led the way in the blocks department with one solo and four assisted blocks.ย
Tulane struck first in the first set off of a kill from redshirt sophomore outside hitter, Ilayda Demirtas and kept the score close at 7-7. Clemson went on a run during the middle of the set and had the Green Wave at an eight-pointย deficit. However, Tulane was not rattled and went on a 5-0 scoring run to bring themselves back within three. The Tigers, however, were tough to crack and ended up taking the set 25-22.
Clemson carried their momentum over from the first set and went up to a quick 6-1 score in the second set. But, after four unanswered points from Tulane, the Green Wave was back within one. However, the Tigers did not allow the momentum to shift and led for the remainder of the set. Despite a late comeback attempt from the Green Wave, Clemson claimed the set 25-20.
Clemson was on the board first in the final set. Tulane tried their best to hold onto the Tiger's tale at 5-4, but Clemson's momentum was hard to capture back. The Tigers led for the remainder and Tulane lost the set 25-13.ย
The Green Wave has another opportunity tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 PM on the final day of the Tulane Invitational. The Green Wave will take on Houston Christian.
