
Women’s Basketball Drops 72-54 Road Conference Contest to Tulsa

Tulsa, Oklahoma – Marta Galic led the Tulane women's basketball program (7-6, 0-2 AAC) with 12 points in a 72-54 road loss to Tulsa (12-3, 2-0 AAC) on Tuesday evening at Donald W. Reynolds Center. The loss was the second in a row for Tulane after the program had put together a four-game winning streak for much of the month of December.
Galic shot 5-for-9 from the field and knocked down two threes. She also had a pair of steals and six rebounds. Kyren Whittington recorded seven points and five rebounds. Joy Madison-Key tallied six points and a team-leading five assists. Hannah Pratt chipped in with five points and three rebounds. Irina Prau recorded a game-high 11 rebounds to go along with six points and two steals. Jaylee Womack had two points. Amira Mabry recorded 10 points. McKenzi Carter put up five points. Chiara Grattini recorded two rebounds, three assists and a steal. Lily Ba had a point.
Tulsa was led by 24 points from Temira Poindexter. Ahrray Young put up 22 points. Delanie Crawford total 17 points and eight rebounds
The game featured no tied scores or lead changes as Tulsa led from the opening tip. Tulsa's biggest advantage in the game came in fast break points where they outscored Tulane 22-5. Tulane shot 30.8 percent from the field (20-for-65), 24 percent from three-point range (6-for-25) and 80 percent from the line (8-for-10). The Green Wave had 37 rebounds, 10 assists and nine steals.
Tulsa shot 49.2 percent from the field (29-for-59), 39.3 percent from three-point range (11-for-28) and 75 percent from the free throw line (3-for-4). The Hurricane tallied 39 rebounds, 15 assists, five steals and three blocks.
Tulsa led by a slight 20-15 score after the first quarter. The Golden Hurricane extended the advantage to eight at the break, 34-26, after outscoring the Green Wave 14-11 in the second 10 minutes of action. The third quarter was another strong quarter for Tulsa as they outscored Tulane by a 20-11 margin to take 17-point lead to the fourth, 54-47 in what ended up being an 18-point victory, 72-54.
Next, Tulane returns home to take on South Florida on Saturday, Jan. 6, at 2 p.m. at Devlin Fieldhouse.
