Wave’s Late-Inning Surge Puts Away Bulldogs
Mar 2, 2024 | Baseball
The win gave the Green Wave (6-4) the series victory, while the Bulldogs are still in search of their first win (0-5).
Tulane third baseman Gavin Schulz had a monster date at the dish, going 3-for-3 with four RBI and a run scored. Left fielder Jackson Linn went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, while catcher Colin Tuft and center fielder Teo Banks also found the plate twice.
Yale third baseman Davis Hanson, second baseman Jake Williams and first baseman Alec Atkinson all collected two hits. Hanson drove in three, including a solo homer in the first, to go with Atkinson's two runs scored.
Tulane starting pitcher Chandler Welch (2-0) picked up the win, giving up one earned run and eight hits to go with two strikeouts and two walks in six and two-thirds innings.
Yale starter Colton Shaw (0-2) took his second defeat. He allowed just three hits in five innings, but also gave up three runs and six walks to offset two strikeouts.
In addition to the walks (nine as a team), the Bulldogs also hit four Tulane batters during the course of the game.
The Green Wave will go for the sweep Sunday at 1.
Sunday's tilt will, not only be Riptide's Kids Club Day, but also the program's Bark in the Park promotion, presented by Bryan Subaru. On hand will be free collapsible dog bowls and all fans who bring dogs will be seated in the right field bleachers and plaza ONLY.
Kids Club members will receive free game admission, there will be collectible baseball card giveaway and there will be a postgame autograph session on the concourse with Carter Benbrook, Brock Slaton, Mason Onate, Tayler Montiel and Blaise Wilcenski.
