
Tulane Opens Corvallis Regional Against Beavers

CORVALLIS, OR – Fourth-seeded Tulane, the two-time defending American Athletic Conference champions, will play top-seeded Oregon State Friday on the opening day of the 2024 Corvallis Regional played on Coleman Field inside Goss Stadium.

First pitch is scheduled for 8:06 p.m. CT/6:06 PT against the Beavers, who are the bracket's No. 15 national seed.

The Green Wave (35-24) clinched the league's automatic berth when left fielder Jackson Linn's 433-foot solo homer sailed over left field wall in the bottom of the ninth to give the team an 11-10 win over Wichita State on Sunday.

The Beavers (42-14) went 1-1 in the Pac-12 Tournament after finishing second in the conference with a 19-10 mark.

The Olive and Blue has faced the Beavers three times in its history, winning all of those contests. The team won 11-9 at the Riverside Invitational (Riverside, California) in 1986, 6-5 at the Louisiana Classics in Lafayette in 1991 and 3-1 in the 2005 College World Series opener (Omaha, Nebraska) in 2005.

The winner will face the winner of Friday's earlier game (3 p.m. CT/1 PT) between second-seeded UC Irvine (43-12) and third-seeded Nicholls (38-20).

Saturday's Tulane game will be carried on ESPN2 with Roxy Bernstein and Wes Clements handling the broadcast duties.

Voice of the Green Wave Corey Gloor will also have the call on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield. The game will air on 88.3 FM WRBH, along with the Tulane Athletics and Varsity Network apps. Airtime is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. CT.

Oregon State second baseman Travis Bazzana, projected by many to be one of the first players taken in July's Major League Baseball Draft, leads the team with a .418 batting average, 1.520 OPS, 80 runs, 82 hits, 16 doubles, 4 triples, 26 homers, 184 total bases, .939 slugging percentage, 71 walks, .581 on-base percentage and 15 stolen bases. Gavin Turley paces the squad with 69 RBI, while Jacob Krieg has been hit by 13 pitches.

Tulane first baseman Brady Marget leads the team in batting average (.340), hits (80), RBI (57) and total bases (126). Catcher Colin Tuft has scored 65 runs, boasts a team-high 44 walks, .440 on-base percentage and 13 stolen bases. Center fielder Teo Banks paces the Green Wave in doubles (18) and HBP (21), while left fielder Jackson Linn leads the way in OPS (1.034), triples (3), home runs (16) and slugging percentage (.678). Second baseman Connor Rasmussen has six sacrifice flies, while shortstop Marcus Cline is at the top of the entire conference with 12 sacrifice bunts.
