
Track & Field Competes At the AAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships This Week

SAN ANTONIO – The Tulane outdoor track & field program is set to compete at the 2024 American Athletic Conference (AAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships from May 10-12 at the Park West Athletics Complex in San Antonio, Texas.
The men will send Lee Harris (100m, 4x400m relay), Zander Dunbar (800m, 4x400m relay), Jalen St. Fort (800m, 4x400m relay), Parker Orlowsky (800m, 4x400m relay), Roman Schrader (800m, 4x400m relay), Sam Cohen (800m), Charles Henne (800m), Illia Kunin (1500m, 5000m, 4x400m relay), Jack Jennings (5000m, 10,000m), Ryan Adkins (5000m, 10,000m), Alan Deogracias III (5000m), Juan Giron (5000m, 10,000m), Paul James Pam (5000m), Mason Wong (5000m, 3000m steeplechase) and Sam Cohen (4x400m relay).
The women will send Tolu Ajayi (200m, 4x100m relay), Alexis Esteves (400m, 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay), Alyssa Taylor (400m, 4x400m relay), Elena Liano-Rengel (800m, 4x400m relay), Danna Diaz (1500m, 5000m), Reese Ragland (1500m, 5000m), Anna Schadel (1500m, 4x400m relay), Paula Vaquera (5000m, 10,000m), Lily Bell (5000m, 10,000m), Robyn Larkan (100m hurdles, 4x100m relay), Bella Carroll (4x100m relay, 4x400m relay), Patricija Ozolina (4x100m relay, heptathlon), Kaia Todd (4x100m relay, triple jump, heptathlon), Laura Fodor (4x400m relay, heptathlon), Kate Sander (pole vault), Cosette Fleury (pole vault), Sofie Groeninger (shot put, heptathlon), Alyssa Dismuke (shot put, discus), Norah Bice (discus) and Kara Schiek (javelin)
Last time out the team competed in three different meets, the Drake Relays, the Kip Janvrin Open and the East Coast Relays from April 24-27 and recorded a pair of top-10 school marks.
At the Drake Relays, Zander Dunbar ran a 1:49.56 in the 800m. His time ranks him fourth all-time at Tulane in the event just ahead of Chauncy Brinn's 1:49.71 from 1979.
Elena Liano-Rengel finished as the runner-up in the 800m performance with a 2:08.84. The time bettered her previous top-10 Tulane mark set earlier this year and currently ranks her eighth.
Roman Schrader finished 17th in the 800m with his 1:54.56.
Paul James Pam placed 21st in the 5000m with his 15:15.41.
Reese Ragland took 14th in the 1500m with her 4:33.72, while Paula Vaquera placed 21st n the same event with a 4:36.71.
The 4x800m relay team of Roman Schrader, Jalen St. Fort, Sam Cohen and Dunbar placed sixth with a 7:38.49. The time is the fifth best in school history bettering a mark that was originally set in 1947.
Illia Kunin placed eighth in the 1500m (3:54.60).
At the Kip Janvrin Open, Alex Sharp ranked 15th in the women's 5000m with her 17:51.18. Albert Tawil-Brown ran a 15:34.56 in the men's 5000m.
At the East Coast Relays, Cosette Fleury placed 10th in the pole vault with a personal record 3.45m/11'03.75".
Sofie Groeninger took 10th in the shot put with a 12.31m/40'04.75". Alyssa Dismuke placed 12thh in the shot put with her 11.43m/37'06.00", while Emma Simons earned 15th with a season best 9.03m/29'07.50".
Anna Schadel placed 19th in the 1500m with a 4:40.95. Macy Turcotte set a person record with a 3:44.84 in the 1500m.
Mason Wong took 11th in the 3000m steeplechase (9:40.97).
Alan Deogracias III was ninth in the invite men's 5,000 with a personal best 14:38.00.
Francisco Roman III was the team's top finisher in the long jump with a leap of 5.88m/19'03.50".
Tolu Ajayi was the team's top finisher and set a personal best in the 200m.
Patricija Ozolina took 12th in the high jump (1.55m/5'01"). Laura Fodor took 20th with a 1.45m/4'49".
Kate Sander placed 11th in the invite for the pole vault with 3.75m/12'03.50".
Lili Grant was the team's top finisher in the 5000m in eighth with a personal record 17:59.04.
Juan Giron finished third in the 5000m with a personal best 15:11.67. Adam Aldahir placed fifth with a personal best 15:14.58, while Chase Cartwright ran a 15:14.91.
Matthew Remondet earned seventh in the men's javelin with his throw of 51.49m/168'11".
The women's 4x100m relay team of Beth Carroll, Robyn Larkan, Patricija Ozolina and Tolu Ajayi earned 15th with a season best time of 47.51.
Sofie Groeninger earned 11th in the women's javelin with a personal best with a 39.04m/128'01". Kara Schiek earned 13th with her 38.71m/127'00. Patricija Ozolina was 15th with a 35.77m/117'04". Payton Musso had a personal best with her 33.27m/109'02" in finishing 19th. Laura Fodor placed 24th with a 28.39m/93'01".
Mason Wong took 11th with a his 9:40.97 in the men's 3000m steeplechase.
Parker Orlowsky set a season best with his 1:54.06 in taking 12th in the men's 800m. Charles Henne was 41st in the event with his 1:58.89.
Robyn Larkan was the team's highest finisher in the women's 100m hurdles with her 14.46.
Tolu Ajayi set a personal best with a 25.24 in the women's 200m. She also was the team's top finisher in the 100m.
Alyssa Dismuke placed 13th in the women's discus with a personal best of 38.64m/126'09". Norah Bice took 14th with her 37.80m/124'00". Sofia Caruso earned 18th place with her 32.46m/106'06". Emma Simons set a personal record with her 29.42m/96'06".
Lee Harris was the team's top finisher and set a personal best in the men's 400m with his 50.86.
Alexis Esteves was the program's top finisher with a personal best 58.30 in the 400m. Alyssa Taylor also set a personal best with her 58.82 in the event.
Anna Schadel took 22nd in the 800m with her 2:15.71.
During 2022-23 outdoor season, the Tulane women placed sixth overall with 63 points at the AAC Championships. The finish was Tulane's best since 2016. The Tulane men finished eighth during outdoor season with 26 points. The program totaled nine All-Conference selections during outdoor season in Janae Dean (1st – women's 800m), Victoria Robinson (3rd – women's 800m), Kara Steele (3rd – women's triple jump), Mackenzie Callahan (3rd - women's 1500m), Aaron Gilliam (3rd – men's 1500m), Bradley Makuvire (3rd – men's 5,000m), Mackenzie Callahan (2nd – women's 3000m steeplechase), Maren Butler (3rd – women's shot put), Margot Temines (3rd – women's heptathlon). Kristen O'Handley ended the outdoor season by achieving All-American status in the Heptathlon.
The program placed eighth during the 2023-24 indoor campaign with the team totaling three all-conference performances. Karlijn Schouten took third in the pole vault, Paula Vaquera placed second in the 3000m while Janae Dean earned third in the 800m.
Following the action this week the program will send qualifiers to the NCAA East First Round in Lexington, Kentucky from May 22-25.
