
Green Wave Racks up Postseason Honors

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane Baseball, on the heels of its second straight American Athletic Conference title and trip to the NCAA Tournament, had six individuals earn postseason honors.

Pitcher Luc Fladda and Colin Tuft were named to the Corvallis Region's All-Tournament team after the program secured its first regional victory since 2016. Fladda combined with Jacob Moore for a 3-0 shutout victory over Nicholls to eliminate the Colonels on Saturday.

Tuft led the team with a .300 batting average and six total bases last weekend, while throwing out two would-be base-stealers. He opened with a strong effort against host Oregon State, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a solo homer.

The Green Wave also saw four of its athletes (Moore, fellow pitchers Carter Benbrook and Henry Shuffler and shortstop Marcus Cline) secure Academic All-District honors.

Benbrook, who posted a 3.934 GPA in Sport Administration, posted a 3-1 record with a 5.49 ERA and 46 strikeouts and 39 and one-third innings this season.
Â
Cline notched a 3.8 GPA in Open Source Intelligence and held down the starting shortstop position all year. He led the team with 12 sacrifice bunts and hit .229 with six homers and 29 RBI.

Shuffler was a workhorse for the team, making 30 appearances with a 4.89 ERA. He also struck out 48 batters in 46 innings, while allowing a .246 batting average against.

Moore led the team in saves with six. He went 5-3 with a 3.00 ERA and whiffed 45 in 42.0 innings, while surrendering just a .222 batting average.
