Tulane Ventures to Mile High City for the Ron Moore Intercollegiate

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane golf will head back on the road this weekend as it makes the trip to Denver, Colorado, to compete in the Ron Moore Intercollegiate from Friday to Sunday, October 3-5. The three-day tournament will be hosted by the University of Denver at the University of Denver Golf Club – Highlands Ranch.

Representing Tulane in this weekend's tournament will be Sophia Macias, Francesca Pompa, Cristina Albertazzi, Gabriella Gilrowski, and Sophia Chen. Macias leads the Wave so far this season with three out of six rounds under par and 23 total birdies through two tournaments.

In addition to the Green Wave, the 15-team field includes New Mexico, Denver, Colorado State, Xavier, UNLV, Vanderbilt, Hawaii, UTSA, Wyoming, Texas State, San Francisco, Clemson, Northern Colorado, and Colorado.

The Ron Moore Intercollegiate will run Friday, Saturday and Sunday with a waterfall start at 9:30 a.m. CT on Friday and Saturday and a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start on Sunday. Each day will consist of one, 18-hole round.

In the last time out for Tulane the Wave was led by freshman Sophia Macia who posted a pair of rounds under par at the Schooner Fall Classic. Macias shot a 68 (-2) and a 69 (-1) in the first two rounds of the tournament to help her finish tied for 30th overall. She ended the tournament second overall in the field with 14 total birdies across three rounds.

As a team Tulane placed 15th in the Schooner Fall Classic recording a three-round total of 886 (+46) at the Belmar Golf Club in Norman, Oklahoma, from September 20-21.
