Dec 14, 2025 | Women's Basketball
NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane women's basketball team dominated in several phases of the game Sunday afternoon en route to a 95-71 triumph over crosstown foe New Orleans (UNO). Four Wave players scored in double figures as the Green Wave won the glass 47-23 and poured in 11 threes at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse. Tulane moves to 4-5 as the Privateers fall to 0-9.
Tulane shot 52.4 percent in the contest and posted a 40.7 percent clip beyond the arc, knocking down 11 total triples for a new season high. UNO posted a 40.4 percent shooting clip, but the Privateers were held to just five threes on a 29.4 percent mark. Tulane dominated on the glass, 47-23, including a 17-9 offensive rebounding advantage. This contributed to 22 second chance points while UNO had just six. The Wave owned the paint with 40 points inside compared to the 26 of the Privateers. Tulane recorded 20 assists on its 33 made baskets.
Four players scored in double-digits for Tulane with Kendall Sneed leading the way at 18 points. She was perfect on field goals, going 7-of-7 and 3-of-3 beyond the arc. Her lone blemish was a miss at the free throw line, where she was 1-of-2. She added five assists to top the team with four boards and a steal. Amira Mabry notched 17 points with seven rebounds and a pair of assists. She also knocked down three triples. Kanija Daniel had 15 points on top of three assists and a pair of swipers. CC Mays delivered her first double-double in the Olive and Blue (third career) by way of 12 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. She added two assists and two steals. Dyllan Hanna was just shy of a double-double with eight boards and eight points.
Daniel and Shiloh Kimpson each dished three assists behind Sneed. Mays and Daniel tied for the team lead in steals, and Jayda Brown recorded the lone Tulane rejection.
The Wave got on the board first with a Dyllan Hanna score at the 9:13 mark and never looked back, leading for a total of 39 minutes and 13 seconds. Amira Mabry connected on the first three of the afternoon to mark a 7-2 lead. Tulane raced out to an early 12-2 lead, and another Mabry trey pushed the score to 17-6. UNO remained pesky and kept trying to chip away, but Tulane held steady to keep the Privateers at arm's length, as Jayda Brown's layup pushed the Wave past the 20-point threshold at 21-10. UNO pulled within 10 to close the opening quarter, but Tulane held a firm 24-14 advantage.
Mabry continued her run of form, opening the second quarter with a basket. Kayla Hampton buried a three to push the margin to 31-17. However, a Privateer three pulled them back within single-digits at 33-24 later in the frame. Mabry scored, setting off a four-point Tulane swing. A late triple in the final minute for UNO pulled the Privateers within 39-29, which is where the score stood at the break.
Continuing to push, the Privateers opened the second half with a three, but Hanna got to work inside immediately thereafter with a score. Kanija Daniel then swished her own trey and added a two-pointer for good measure, creating separation again at 46-32. Kendall Sneed hit a three, but UNO responded with a layup, sparking a seven-point run to bring the margin to 49-41. Sneed and Daniel both converted at the charity stripe to break the spell. The teams continued to go back-and-forth until Mabry connected from distance late in the frame. A Daniel three ended the quarter with momentum and sent the game into the final frame at 67-53.
The threes kept coming as CC Mays opened the fourth with a trey, and Sneed added two in a row to follow. Tulane led 76-54 and held firm control of the contest. Shiloh Kimpson hit a jumper, and the Wave began to roll from there. Tulane raced away with 28 points in the fourth to secure a 95-71 victory. The 95 points are a season high for Tulane and the first 90-plus outing since 91 at Florida Atlantic on December 29, 2024. The 28 points of the third and fourth quarters are one short of the Wave's season best for a frame, which was 29 in the third against Elon.
Tulane enters its final week of non-conference play. First up is a trip to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to face the Crimson Tide on Wednesday, December 17. Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m. The Wave returns home for the weekend to host the Tulane Holiday Tournament on December 20 and 21. Delaware State, Mercer, and Detroit Mercy will all partake in the four-game, two-day event.
