Tulane Faces Florida Atlantic in AAC Quarterfinals Friday

FORT WORTH, Texas – Four-seed Tulane University men's basketball opens the 2025 American Athletic Conference Championship against five-seed Florida Atlantic in the quarterfinals at Dickies Arena on Friday. The Green Wave will look to advance to the semifinals of the AAC Championship for the fourth time with a win over the Owls.

The matchup between the Wave and the Owls is set to tipoff at 2 p.m. on ESPN2. Fans can also listen to the action live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 106.1 The Ticket and Heaven 106.7 with the Voice of the Green Wave Corey Gloor or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App. The game will also air on SiriusXM Radio on channel 119 or 203.

This marks the ninth all-time meeting between Tulane and Florida Atlantic with the Green Wave leading the series 6-2 including an 80-65 victory at home in the lone matchup this season. The Wave and the Owls have never played each other in a neutral site contest. The last time Tulane lost to Florida Atlantic came on March 2, 2024, in Boca Raton, Florida, by a final score of 73-79.

Tulane holds a 5-9 record in the American Athletic Conference Championship. The Green Wave has reached the quarterfinals of the tournament four times going 3-1 in those games. The last win in the tournament for the Wave came over Wichita State 82-76 in the quarterfinals on March 10, 2023.

In its last time out, a career-day by freshman Kam Williams fueled Tulane to an 85-68 victory over UAB in the regular season finale at home on Sunday, March 9. Williams tallied a career-high 24 points and hit a career-best six threes to lead five players in double figures for the Green Wave. As a team, the Wave shot 54.0 percent from the floor and 48.1 percent from beyond the arc while knocking down 13 three-pointers.

The Tulane trio of Rowan Brumbaugh, Kaleb Banks, and Williams each earned all-conference honors in The American this season. Brumbaugh landed first team All-AAC and All-Newcomer team recognition after leading the Green Wave in scoring averaging 15.5 points per game including 27 consecutive games in double figures to end the season.

Banks garnered second team All-AAC honors after averaging 15.0 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game. Meanwhile, Williams was selected to the AAC All-Freshman team after averaging 9.3 points, 1.5 steals, and 1.0 block while also shooting 41.4 percent from downtown which ranked fifth in the conference.

Florida Atlantic enters the matchup as the No. 5 seed in the AAC Championship after defeating Charlotte 64-59 in the second round. FAU leads the conference in bench points this season averaging 30.39 points per game off the bench which also ranks 15th in the country.
The trio of Kaleb Glenn, Tre Carroll, and Baba Miller pace the attack for the Owls averaging double figures in scoring. Glenn and Miller each landed All-Conference second team honors while Carroll was named the league's Co-Most Improved Player. The Owls also roster the AAC Freshman of the Year Mata Vokietaitis who averaged 9.5 points and 5.3 rebounds.
