
Women’s Basketball Brings Home AAC Honors, Sneed Named Freshman of the Year

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane Women's Basketball brought home multiple conference awards this year, including the singular Freshman of the Year honor. Kendall Sneed earned the accolade after an outstanding season and alongside a spot on the All-Freshman Team.
Sherese Pittman was named to the All-Conference First Team and the All-Newcomer Team. Kyren Whittington earned a spot on the All-Conference Second Team, and Sadie Shores on the All-Freshman Team.Â
Kendall Sneed for Freshman of the Year / All-Freshman Team
Kendall Sneed has earned the Freshman of the Year award after an outstanding season, where she won the Freshman of the Week award six times this year. Sneed's total of six is two off the league's record of eight and the third most in league history. Sneed was the first Tulane freshman to earn AAC Freshman of the Week since 2020-2021.
Sneed started all 27 games and scored 10 or more points in 14 of these games. Sneed also had two 20+ point outings.Â
Sneed put up five blocks against Florida Atlantic on January 29 and is the most recent Tulane player to have 5+Â in a game. She also logged two double-doubles on the season.Â
Sneed is fourth in AAC for overall assists (118) and fifth in assists per game (4.2). She made 11 assists on November 24, 2024 against Florida, the third-highest single-game amount in the AAC this season. She is also the only Tulane player to make over ten or more assists in a game this year.
Sneed is fourth in the AAC for overall steals (49) and third in steals per game (1.8). Sneed is third in the AAC for overall free throws made (94) and is ninth in percentage (.728). She made all attempts in 11 of her games.Â
Sherese Pittman – All-Conference First Team, All-Newcomer Team
Senior transfer Sherese Pittman was named to the All-Conference and All-Newcomer teams. Pittman started 28 of 28 games, and earned an AAC Honorable Mention three times during the season (Nov. 18, Jan. 13, Feb. 10).
Pittman earned six double doubles, and is one of nine AAC players to have over five this season. She was ninth in the AAC for scoring, totaling 392 points and averaging 14 pointer per game. She was also ninth in field goal percentage with .728.
Pittman had a season-high of 25 points against Rice on February 5, and scored 10+ points in 22 games, 15+ in nine games, and 20+ in three. She was ninth in free throw percentage with .728 and sixth in total free throws with 91.
She was ninth in the AAC for rebounds with 7.2 per game and totaled 201. Pittman was sixth in defensive rebounding, averaging 5.5 per game. Pittman had 16 rebounds versus Wichita State, and is the most recent Tulane player to put up 15+ in a game. She also has the third-highest single game rebounds in the AAC
Pittman led Tulane in rebounds in 14 games, and led in points for eight games. She led the Wave in rebounds for five of seven January games and had four games where she led Tulane in both rebounds and points.Â
Kyren Whittington – All-Conference Second TeamÂ
Whittington was named to the preseason All-Conference Second Team and had a stellar season to prove it.Â
Whittington ended the season ranked 14th in scoring, averaging 11.8 points per game. She totaled the 15th most points in the league this season, with 331.Â
She is ranked 21st in the conference for 3-pt field goals per game, with 1.3. Whittington is 13th in assists, at 73 and averaging 2.6 per game. She also comes in 23rd in steals in the conference, totaling 38 and averaging 1.4.Â
Whittington earned a double-double against Alabama A&M on December 20, 2024. Tulane went undefeated for the month of December.
She had five games where she scored over 20 points and landed a season-high 28 points against UAB on February 1.Â
Sadie Shores – All-Freshman Team
Sadie Shores was named to the AAC All-Freshman team for her performance during the season. Shores played in all 28 games, starting in one. She earned Freshman of the Week on December 30, 2024 for her stunning performance against Florida Atlantic. She earned a season-high 16 points against the Owls as well as a season-high five assists. Shores is one of three AAC players to go 4-4 in three-pointers this season, which she also did against FAU.Â
Shores averaged 5 points per game, along with 3.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists. She had 142 points on the season and led Tulane in points (15) and assists (4) versus Temple on February 15.
