
Baseball Moves to AAC Baseball Championship Semifinals With 10-6 Victory over UTSA

Tayler Montiel (5-2) came on in relief to earn the victory with 3.2 scoreless innings. He struck out four while surrendering just a hit and a walk. Luc Fladda started for Tulane and went the first five innings with five runs allowed on six hits. Trey Cehajic entered to try to escape the sixth inning jam and allowed a run in 0.1 innings worked.
It was a balanced offense for Tulane with five players recording multi-hit performances and five also totaling a multi-RBI contest. The Green Wave scored four runs in the third inning and untied the game with four runs between the eighth and ninth innings.
James Agabedis III lead the offensive attack with a pair of home runs. Theo Bryant IV and Matthias Haas each had three hits. Bryant had a home run, knocked in a pair of runs plus scored one. Haas scored a pair of runs and had two RBIs. Jason Wachs hit a home run and knocked in two runs. Connor Rasmussen had a pair of hits, a run scored and two RBIs. Kaikea Harrison totaled two hits and two runs scored.
The loss went to Connor Kelley (3-1). Kelley allowed two runs in two innings.
The Green Wave struck for four runs in the third inning on a two-run double from Rasmussen and a two-run home run from Haas.
The Roadrunners got two runs back in the third on back-to-back RBI singles from Mason Lytle and Norris McClure.
Tulane struck for a run in the fourth on Agabedis' home run to got up 5-2.
UTSA crept a run closer, 5-3, in the fifth on Lytle's home run.
Tulane got the run back in the sixth, 6-3, as Bryant hit his sixth of the season. Every one of his home runs.
UTSA answered with three runs in the sixth inning to tie the game, 6-6, on an RBI single by Caden Miller and a two-run base hit up the middle by Lorenzo Morresi.
The Green Wave grabbed the lead back for good, 9-6, in the eighth inning on Agabedis' second home run of the game followed by a two-run home run from Wachs.
Tulane added a big insurance run in the ninth as Bryant picked up an RBI base hit.
Next, Tulane plays the team's third game of AAC Baseball Championships starting at 8 a.m. CT/ 9 a.m. ET against the winner of the FAU / UTSA contest on Saturday, May 24.
