CLEARWATER, FLA – The No. 5 seed Tulane baseball team (32-24) looks to stay on the winner's side of the bracket and takes on No. 1 seed UTSA (44-12) on Saturday, May 22, at 8 a.m. CT/9 a.m. ET at the BayCare Ballpark in Clearwater, Florida in the 2025 Baseball Championship Semifinals.

The game will be streamed on ESPN+. The Voice of the Green Wave, Corey Gloor, will call the action on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 88.3 WRBH/Varsity Network. Airtime for radio is 15 minutes before first pitch.
Pitching Matchup
Neither Tulane nor UTSA have announced the expected starter for the game.

UTSA has been led by 2025 AAC Player of the Year Mason Lytle. Lytle is hitting .379 with 71 runs, 92 hits, 21 doubles, nine home runs, 65 RBIs and 16 stolen bases. Jordan Ballin is hitting .359 with 44 runs and 42 hits plus 38 walks. Norris McClure has a .354 batting average with 47 runs, 67 hits, four home runs and 38 RBIs. James Taussig sports a .351 batting average with 42 runs, 60 hits, 13 doubles, nine home runs and 59 RBIs. Andrew Stucky hits .335 with 38 runs, 53 hits, 15 doubles, six home runs and 39 RBIs. Drew Detlefsen leads the team with his 13 home runs and 70 RBIs. Robert Orloski has been the top relief pitcher with an 8-0 record and seven saves. He also has struck out 68 in 64.2 innings with a 2.92 ERA.
Series History
Tulane is 5-8 all-time against UTSA. Tulane took the middle game of the game series in San Antonio earlier in the season, 5-3, from April 17-19. The Green Wave earned a thrilling 10-6 victory over the Roadrunners on Thursday, May 22, in the second round of the AAC Baseball Championship. This year's games were first time that Tulane baseball has ever made the trip to San Antonio to play against the Roadrunners as the three-game series in 2013, 2014 and 2024 all came in New Orleans. The team lost all three games to the Roadrunners last season at home. Those were the first three games for the two schools since a three-game set was played during the 2014 campaign.
AAC Tournament Notables
Tulane has won the AAC Tournament title in each of the last two years and ride an eight-game winning streak into the team's third game of the 2025 Baseball Championship. Last season Tulane won an 11-10 thriller over Wichita State on Jackson Linn's walk-off home run. Linn had an outstanding tournament with four home runs and was named the Most Outstanding Player. Other All-Tournament selections in 2024 for Tulane were outfielder Teo Banks, first baseman Brady Marget, pitcher Billy Price, third baseman Gavin Schulz and catcher Colin Tuft. Tulane has won at least one game in nine of 10 all-time appearances in the AAC Tournament. This is the program's 43rd all-time appearance in a post-season conference tournament (10 in AAC, 17 CUSA and 16 Metro). Tulane is 93-61 all-time in conference tournament games including a mark of 18-15 in the AAC

The No. 5 seed Tulane baseball team (32-24) scored early and late to earn a thrilling 10-6 victory over No. 1 seed UTSA (43-12) on Thursday afternoon, May 22, at BayCare Ballpark in Clearwater in the second round of the AAC Baseball Championship. Tulane has now won eight straight AAC Baseball Championship games since 2023.
Tayler Montiel (5-2) came on in relief to earn the victory with 3.2 scoreless innings. He struck out four while surrendering just a hit and a walk. Luc Fladda started for Tulane and went the first five innings with five runs allowed on six hits. Trey Cehajic entered to try to escape the sixth inning jam and allowed a run in 0.1 innings worked.
It was a balanced offense for Tulane with five players recording multi-hit performances and five also totaling a multi-RBI contest. The Green Wave scored four runs in the third inning and untied the game with four runs between the eighth and ninth innings.
James Agabedis III lead the offensive attack with a pair of home runs. Theo Bryant IV and Matthias Haas each had three hits. Bryant had a home run, knocked in a pair of runs plus scored one. Haas scored a pair of runs and had two RBIs. Jason Wachs hit a home run and knocked in two runs. Connor Rasmussen had a pair of hits, a run scored and two RBIs. Kaikea Harrison totaled two hits, and two runs scored.
Notables from the AAC Championship Second Round - UTSA
The win improves Tulane to 5-8 all-time against UTSA. The Green Wave have won the program's last eight games in AAC Baseball Championship play since 2023 season including a pair of conference titles. Jason Wachs extended his on-base streak to a career high 24 games with a home run in the eighth inning. His 24 straight games reaching base safely is a high for any Tulane player. His 24 game on-base streak is the longest for the program since Colin Tuft reached base safely in 29 straight contests from last season (3/1-4/17/24). Wachs also now has hit in 21 straight games which is both a career high and the high for any Tulane player this season. It is the longest hitting streak for the program since Colin Tuft also had a 21-game hitting streak last season (3/12-4/17/24). The last Tulane player with a 22-game or longer hitting streak was Kody Hoese during the 2019 season. On record Hoese has the longest hitting streak for the team since at least 1999. Wachs has now homered twice in the AAC Baseball Championship after not hitting any long balls during the regular season. Three of James Agabedis III seven career home runs have now been hit in AAC Championship play. He is the first Tulane player with multiple home runs in a game since Jackson Linn hit a pair of long balls against Wichita State in last season's AAC Baseball Championship Game (5/26/24). The team's five home runs were a season high, the second most ever recorded by any school in AAC Championships play and the most for the program since also getting five against Wichita State (5/26/24). Five Named All-Conference Selections
The American Athletic Conference announced its 2025 all-league teams and individual awards Monday and, in it, recognized five Tulane student-athletes.
Relief pitcher Michael Lombardi and second baseman Connor Rasmussen were named to the first team. Designated hitter Gavin Schulz was a second team selection. The program saw outfielders Jason Wachs and Tanner Chun earn a spot on the all-freshman team. Wachs was a unanimous selection.
The awards were voted on by the league's 10 head coaches. The five selections are tied with last year for the most for the program since 2016 (seven). This was the second straight year that both Lombardi (second team in 2024) and Schulz (first team in 2024) were chosen for post-season awards for the Green Wave.

Next, Tulane continues play in the AAC Baseball Championship playing either on Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning depending on the results of the UTSA game of the double elimination tournament.
