
Green Wave Visits Charlotte Friday Night

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University men's basketball will aim to get back into the win column on Friday night as it takes on Charlotte in Halton Arena. The Green Wave has not lost four consecutive games since dropping five-straight from November 22 to December 7, 2024.
The game between the Wave and the 49ers is set to tipoff at 6:30 p.m. CT on ESPN+. Fans can also listen to the action live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 106.7 The Ticket with the Voice of the Green Wave Corey Gloor or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App.
This marks the 28th all-time meeting between Tulane and Charlotte with the Green Wave trailing the series 11-16. The Wave swept the season series against the 49ers last year including an 83-68 victory in Charlotte on December 31, 2024. Tulane holds a 4-8 mark on the road against the 49ers following last season's victory which snapped a five-game losing streak at Charlotte. Under Ron Hunter the Wave is 2-1 against Charlotte including a 1-0 mark on the road.
In its last time out, Tulane suffered its third-straight loss falling 74-79 in a fierce battle at Florida Atlantic on Wednesday, January 21. Curtis Williams Jr. was the highlight of the night for the Green Wave as he finished with a game-high 27 points with three makes from beyond the arc and a perfect 8-of-8 performance at the free throw line. Rowan Brumbaugh and Tyler Ringgold also finished with double figures as Brumbaugh tallied 14 points and Ringgold added 13.
Brumbaugh and Williams are the only teammates in the American to each post multiple 20-point games in conference play this season. Brumbaugh leads the Wave with three 20-point performance while Williams has recorded two games in league play with at least 20 points.
Charlotte enters the contest with a 10-9 overall record and a 4-2 mark in conference play after defeating East Carolina on the road 73-70 on January 18. The 49ers are 7-4 at home so far this season but holds just a 1-2 record against league competition. On their home court the 49ers are averaging 77.0 points per game while shooting 46.2 percent from the field and making 8.6 threes per game.
The bench has been instrumental for the 49ers as the team ranks second in the conference and 74th nationally averaging 28.16 points off the bench. Three players are averaging double figures in scoring for Charlotte this season - Ben Bradford (14.0), Dezayne Mingo (10.7), and Anton Bonke (10.6).
Following the game at Charlotte, Tulane will return home to host South Florida on Wednesday, January 28. The matchup between the Green Wave and the Bulls is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. on ESPNU.
