
Green Wave Visits North Texas Thursday Night

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University men's basketball aims to win its third-straight game on Thursday when it travels to Denton, Texas, for a rematch with North Texas. The Green Wave dropped the previous meeting against the Mean Green 63-71 at home on January 18.

The game between the Wave and the Mean Green is set to tipoff at 8 p.m. on ESPN2. This marks the eighth all-time meeting between Tulane and North Texas with the Green Wave trailing the series 2-5. The Wave lost the previous matchup this season 63-71 on January 18 in New Orleans. Tulane holds a 1-2 record on the road against the Mean Green after dropping each of the last two meetings in Denton, Texas. The last time the Green Wave earned a victory on the road against North Texas was a 73-62 win on January 11, 2014. The Wave has lost the last five games against the Mean Green after winning the first two meetings in the series with its last victory coming on March 12, 2014, in El Paso, Texas, 66-61.

In its last time out, Tulane earned its second consecutive victory by holding on to defeat UAB 55-54 in Birmingham on February 15. The Green Wave held the Blazers to season-lows in points (54) and field goals made (20) while also limiting UAB to its worst shooting performance from beyond the arc at just 14.8 percent (4-27). Three players scored in double figure for the Wave in the victory as Rowan Brumbaugh finished with 17 points followed by 14 points from Asher Woods and 12 from Scotty Middleton.

North Texas enters the game on a three-game winning streak after defeating Temple 65-62 on the road on February 15 to improve to 15-11 overall and 6-7 in league play. The Mean Green holds a 10-4 record at home including a 3-3 mark in conference play while averaging 75.7 points per game on 47.7 percent shooting from the field and 35.4 percent from three in those contests.

The Mean Green hangs its hat on defense leading the conference in scoring defense (66.2), steals (9.9), and turnovers forced per game (15.81). Meanwhile, the duo of Je'shawn Stevenson and David Terrell Jr. lead the offensive attack for North Texas. Stevenson ranks fifth in the league with 16.7 points per game while Terrell post 12.7 points per contest.
