NEW ORLEANS – Tulane men's basketball (17-11, 8-7) had its four-game winning streak snapped in a 56-90 loss to Tulsa (23-6, 11-5) Wednesday night inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse. With the loss the Green Wave dropped to 10-7 at home this season including a 3-5 in conference play.
Â
Curtis Williams Jr. and Asher Woods were the only players to reach double figures in scoring for the Wave against the Golden Hurricane. Williams led the team with 16 points on 7-of-12 shooting with a pair three-pointers while adding five rebounds. Woods followed with 14 points to mark his fifth consecutive game with double digits.
Â
Meanwhile, Rowan Brumbaugh paced Tulane with five assists marking his 10th game this season with at least five assists. On defense for the Wave Luke Rasmussen matched his career-high with three steals and Percy Daniels recorded a team-high three blocks.
Â
The contest opened as a back-and-forth affair as the Green Wave and Tulsa traded the lead four times in the first four-plus minutes of action. The Golden Hurricane was the first team to make a run scoring eight-straight points to take a 16-9 lead with under 12 minutes to play.
Â
Tulane continued to fight pulling back within two points twice over the next few minutes until Tulsa answered with an 11-0 run to put the Wave down by double figures. The deficit eventually hit 16 points for the Green Wave as it hit the locker room trailing 29-45 at the half.
Â
Momentum stayed on the side of the Golden Hurricane in the second half as Tulane was unable to keep pace with the Tulsa offense. Ultimately, the Wave had its four-game winning streak snapped losing the contest 56-90.
Â
Next, Tulane travels to Tampa, Florida, to face South Florida on Sunday, March 1. Tipoff between the Green Wave and the Bulls is slated for 11 a.m. on ESPN2.
