Baseball Falls To LSU 12-5

BATON ROUGE, La. -- A strong Tiger offense was too much for the Green Wave as Tulane (5-7) held the Tigers scoreless in only one inning and dropped a 12-5 decision to LSU (8-5) on Wednesday.
With the loss, Tulane's losing streak to is extended to six games, the longest in Rick Jones' tenure as Green Wave head coach.
LSU out hit the Wave 15-6 and was lead by Brad Cresse who was 5-for-6 with a game high four RBI and three runs scored. Cresse recorded his third home run of the year and his fifth double and tied the LSU single-game record for hits with five.
Tulane's Jake Gautreau was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI and two runs. Gautreau recorded his first home run of the season with a two run shot to right field in the eighth inning.
Brian Tallet (3-1) picked up the win for LSU going 6 1/3 innings. He gave up two earned runs and struck out three.
Green Wave starter Nick Bourgeois (1-1) got his first loss of the year after giving up one earned run and striking out five.
The Green Wave hosts a three game series with Rutgers beginning on Friday March 3. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m.
