NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Louisiana-Lafayette (24-2) came out swinging the bats as they out hit Tulane (16-11-1) 17-4 en route to a 12-1 win over the Green Wave on Wednesday evening.
Tulane's only run came in the first inning as a Jake Gautreau double drove in Matt Groff, who reached on a single. With the hit, Groff extended his current hitting to nine games.
The four hits recorded by Tulane is the fewest number recorded in a game this season, while the four errors ties a season high.
Ragin Cajun Bret Baily was 3-for-4 with a game high four RBI. Baily scored two runs.
The winning pitcher was Andy Gros (2-0) who went six innings and scattered four hits. He gave up one run and struck out four.
Tulane's Matt Foster (2-1) got the loss. He went 3 1/3 innings, gave up five runs and struck out two.
The Green Wave travels to Cincinnati, Ohio, for a three game series with Conference USA rival Cincinnati. The first game is Friday at 5:00 p.m.
